So, SA6 built, TF6 and RF5 on the way, got some good youths, winning some games, using some countertactics.. I think from here I am heading in the right direction but any other hints gratefully accepted?
All the older posts in this thread seem to have gone so I will sumarise what helped me:
Do not rush to buy players! In fact do not rush to spend at all!
Log on every day. You want your rating to increase so you can take loans and build facilities earlier.
You want to aim to build the right facilities ASAP. With a good sports academy you will be getting players better than you can afford to buy quite quickly. Aim for Sports Academy (sa) 6, Training Facility (tf) 6, Regeneration Facility (rf) 5. Its going to take a couple of months to get there...
Season fitness is key. Play low importance as much as possible. It is a long season, plus playoffs. Good players with low fitness lose.
Read up on this and other forums (the US and Canada ones are good). Stuff on what kind of skills are useful are allways good to read. Also read the guide. Twice.
If you must buy a player, a good goally seems to have the best return. Remember a centre/winger/defender is on the ice at best 1/3rd of the time. A goaly is on the ice all match...

don't forget Human resources as another key area to build. the faster you build it the faster you can scout your players and it will also help you make more money on your sponsor and tv deals
also under no circumstances should you be in a hurry to buy staff. at this point even even a top coach won't improve your training much. This is the biggest mistake I see people (and myself) make.

Yeah, you can buy OK staff for peanuts, but probably you are better off just taking the ones that come up for recruitment.
Also good call on HR dept. I havent played a full season yet so have not done sponsor negotiations but building up HR towards the end of the season seems a good plan.

So how does it works if the best coach wont improve my training
they will improve your training but its proportional to your training center. your money is better spent improving your training center then buying a top line coach.
The improvement a coach will give you at level 1 or 2 training center is minuscule compared to what upgrading to the next level will get you. The coach's impact is higher the higher your training center so it makes sense to improve that before worrying about a coach.
