Perhaps single most dominant and unrealistic part of soccer is the "motivation" setting which over the last few seasons seems to have an ever increasing roll in determining match out comes. There's no doubt a very small plus for a weak team to be charged up to play a big opponent. That said, no coach worth his salt is going to bring his club unprepared against weak opponents .
As for 2 equal clubs playing in an important game, if one coach cannot motivate his club to play 100% than that coach should be fired. Do any of you out there see any the clubs in the Champions league not giving their best? I didnt think so. If this was happening the fans would go on a rampage.
The fact is games should be won by the skill of the players of the players on the field. The notion that an very highly motivated team uses 15x more energy than a so called very low motivated team is shear lunacy. Even in friendlies teams come off sweating after the game. No one likes to lose.
