i spent a lot on arena and i am a bit behind on facilities but not too behind. New Media deal and ticket revenue will help catching up on facilities next season.

Imma max out before i focus on arena. Otr and good standings keeping me afloat.

It's possible to focus on arena and facilities.

I'm hardly behind you in Training and Regen facility construction, but I'm outpacing you badly in the HR dept. construction (I'm almost 5 months ahead of you there). I'll have over 3x more seating capacity in my arena by the time sponsorship offers come out.

We can compare notes when sponsorship deals come in, but I'm hoping that mine will blow yours away. Especially given that we have similar OTR, and my infrastructure is vastly better everywhere that matters.

The more you spend on facilities, the harder it's going to be to max your arena out down the road. I'm sure you already know this, but I'd thought I'd point it out anyways.

A LvL 15 Training Facility will cost you almost 75 million per season (without reductions from maintenance included). I don't know about you, but I'd rather be making some extra money from ticket sales and a media sponsorship to help pay for some of that.

As long as my income will be more than expenses I dont care how long it takes me to get my arena up to date. Its a small theory im testing out with handball

If you hadn't been gifted great pulls from the PPM gods I think you may have regretted skimping on the stadium later. I'm pretty sure its been well proven in Soccer and Hockey that you earn far more from the media sponsor and ticket sales than your general sponsor. However, you have a good team and will be promoted so in the short term you will be fine.

Yep... so far this season, I've made only $35 million less from ticket sales/media sponsor than I made from my general sponsor.

And that's with sponsorship deals based on a level 11 HR, and an arena size of 6500.

At the end of this season, I'll have 8750 seats, and a level 12 HR. I wouldn't be shocked if my media + tickets = my general sponsorship next season. And at that point, my arena is still only 3/8s maxed.

To me... that's like saying, "i don't care how much I handicap my team down the road."

Strange logic for any sort of competitive manager game where you plan on sticking around for a while.

Plus... the fact is, it'll probably take you about the same amount of time to max your facilities as if you HAD devoted some money into your arena, because you'll be making less money.

I wouldn't be surprised if I'm able to come close to catching up to your facility construction, while still investing in my arena at the same time (I largely already have).

It depends ... He was successful on promoting from 3 to 2 on frist season. Almost promoted to d1. He managed to win the NC and did great in the Cup Winners. He gained a lot of OTR. So he must have great General Offer.

so it is not like he is desperated for money. It is not like he is sitting on money. He used the money to invest on SA and pull several great players. His training facilities are great.

If he sells his youngsters players he could get more than he would have earned on stadium.

I think this tactic is "risky" cause it is not guaranteed to pull great players, but when works it pays off greatly.

For handball I used a more "defensive" approach making sure id have great money flow

Arena works great on a mid-long term. Im in a point where i am actually profiting from the arena and i should be able to close the facilities gap.

I think the problem on his strategy is that he is not selling his youngsters to keep the flow....

Um... what? He was in division III until this season.

And I'm not basing his money off of how he finished, his OTR, the CWC or any of that. I'm basing it off of how much he's spent on infrastructure improvements. Because for the most part, people spend what they have to improve their team.

So... just looking at infrastructure expenses: I've spent roughly $250 million more than him on arena and facility upgrades at this point.

So even if we assume that he's sitting on a pile of $100 million in cash and that I'm at $0 cash, I'm still ~$150 million "ahead" of him in terms of infrastructure development. Much of my investment has gone gone into things that generate MORE money, while his investments have not, so I'd imagine that gap will only increase each season that we remain similarly competitive.

So like you say, unless he starts making some cash from selling players, it's unlikely that he's going to "catch up" to the teams that are making "free money" from investing in their arenas. For the record, my SA is only 42 days behind CP's. So any advantage he does have over me in terms of selling young guys is diminishing quite quickly.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying that he's in a shitty spot financially. His OTR is still very good (though not as dominant as it was last year at this time), and his facility construction is coming along quite well.

I'm just saying that he could probably be in a better financial position if he invested a little more in his arena. I still believe that by not doing so, he's putting himself at an extreme competitive disadvantage in the mid/longer term.

i forgot he messed a season by going AWOL and failing to promote. I thought he was on D4 but still, anyways, the point was that he won many matches and lots of OTR...

well .. my point is that his strategy is not a bad one, but he is not doing it fully right as he is not selling his players. Without selling, he will be stuck with no money (or should i say, much less than others) and lose his ahead advantage on facilities.

he could easily make up selling his players and still have the edge of having better facilities. the longer he takes, faster people will close the gap.

One problem of this game is that people get, for some reason, too attached to the players. I can speak for myself that i tend to do it

Well the game is built to do that. It sucks selling a player after you've given him season bonuses a couple of times.

Generally speaking, I'm pretty loose with my players. At any given time, there's less than a handful that I consider to be "irreplaceable" and "untouchable."

But every few seasons, that list seems to change. ^_^

Well for what it's worth, it looks like he (and I) will be staying in division II.1 next season.

So he could absolutely sell some of his good players, and still compete (which is something he probably wouldn't be able to do if he were to have advanced to I.1 this season).

I'm still not so sure that he'll sell players though. He doesn't really have a history of doing so. Heck, I never sell anyone who isn't redundant, and yet I've even made more money selling players than he has.
