Naslov: The sim and tactics.

Can any devs explain the sim and how it works?
I ask because it doesn't seem right to me. I am trying to play a solid defensive, fast break style of play ala the Miami Heat.. Offensively it's going ok, however I can't get it right defensively. Take my last game for instance. I played combination because the opposition takes close range shots and I had my best perimeter defender on their best attacker. Zone defense is supposed to make it harder to get into the paint, along with my centre that has 47 blocking/defense it should have protected the basket well. The man to man part worked, we kept their best scorer down to 14 points, but here's the part that I'm not happy with.....they shot over %60 from 2, over %70 in the 2nd half and most of these were in the paint where my centre was supposed to be guarding. That just doesn't happen!
So if any devs could explain please, thank you.

Right, I don't mind losing this is not what it's about but it's the manner of it. When a team of the same quality as mine beats me by 29 points when I'm playing high and very high intensity versus normal and low there is something very wrong. Not only that, they shoot %70 from 2 point range which is just ridiculous.
Something needs fixing!!!

I'm definitely no expert but I can see a couple of things that might partly explain this (I'm assuming you're talking about the Dallas Mavericks game yesterday).

Firstly, his team is slightly stronger than yours in shooting, passing and rebounds. 1 point makes a big difference, it seems, especially when all the teams are relatively similar. However this should have been mitigated by your game importance being higher.

Secondly, I think individual player performances are very important in the game engine (a point made in this article if you've not seen it yet - ppm.powerplaymanager.com/... ). Your opponent's best player (his starting PF) had a game rating of 24 and scored 27 points - almost the whole margin by which he won. Your highest-rated player was 21; your sub PG only rated at 15 and he scored 0 points in 11:41 on the court.

To be honest I can't seem beat the Mavericks either and I've been trying to figure out whether they've hit on something tactically which is giving them an edge. But everyone is still guessing about the details of how it all works so early on in the game's life.

It might be worth posting something in the International Q&A forum, it tends to get more traffic than the UK Boards and some of the folks on their might have some different views.

Keep experimenting. Although, i'm a bit scared to because I'm doing well! I am finding there is a lot of value in using the bench and having some depth to the bench.
A lot of the teams are very close together but have different playing styles which is nice :0)

Yes I agree. I'm trying to get some more players in for that reason. I'm hoping when i get a proper defensive centre it will help to keep the points against down also.
