Yes good point. As we already have the information for more than 110 players already and many young, the new Junior GM will hopefully start with something!

You say that like it is a bad thing. In basketball the odds are the lowest of all sports to pull something worthy. So, I'm investing in arena which should sell out as a mid-level I.1 team. I'll double my sponsor intake, make good ticket money (in theory) and then switch to facilities.

You can't be relegated to D3, you should see how low the level is here.
I had a similar plan in soccer. It worked quite well but I did drop into the bottom-half of I.1 and decided to relegate. It may happen in basketball especially with the quick seasons, my lack of facilities will expedite the initial spreading of talent.
Im following a similar strategy. Are you going to tinker here and there to keep a playoff team in whatever division you find yourself in along the way?
Perhaps. I bought young guys a little early and they're starting to catch my day 1 guys, so, I think I have a bit of cushion but 15 year olds are being pulled about at their OR now.
