I deleted my own post because the question was already answered by someone else, which I didnt notice at the time of writing
of course there is energy to lose, even if you do play low.
I agree that it is cheating because you're fixing the result of the game, but it's also pretty stupid for the team that plays the last match at home.

the other way around, stupid for the team that plays away the last match
seems stupidity has just struck me as well

The third match gate goes to the home playing team doesn't it?
Indeed !
BUT ... both of them won something ! It's out of discussion that Enterprise wouldn't qualify if they would played FAIR !!!
ŠK Liptov won 'some' rating for players while Enterprise won around 1 million from revenues.

Looks like a couple friends decided to have some fun! hehehe If you don't see best lineup in game 3 it could be viewed as throwing a playoff series. That said perhaps they both decided to let game 3 decide the series.
So by forcing a 3 game series, you earn some extra overall team rating... that will be wiped out when the new season starts anyways. And the "extra" experience and Chemistry is traded off in that they won't train quite as much as they would on a day off.
"that will be wiped out when the new season starts"...uh, no. Don't generalize and say that every little bit of OTR doesn't help. It's not like they lose some of their OTR and we don't lose ours.
