i'll pay attention to the #'s this week, but my 3rd goalie is the starter for my friendlies, my 1st and 2nd don't play friendlies
I am a newbie. I am looking to upgrade in goal on my new team. Should I be looking more at Avg Quality or at goaltender rating? And why?
Thanks for any adivce anyone can give me.

When the time comes and you can browse the market for a goaltender you want to go with a guy with a good ratio of goaltending: passing: technique. Usually a 2:1:1 ratio. So like 60 goaltending, 30 passing, 30 technique. That formula gets the best results.
Actually all players you want a formula like that. Don't fall into the common misconception for new people and buy one atty trash. I know I did my first actual season and probably a lot of others did too.

being new, ignore quality when browsing the market, as it changes until you have them scouted. Only look at the real attributes, and just find a guy who is currently rated better than your own.
As Aowyr said, look for 2:1:1, but don't look at quality, just what they really have.

Just to get a little 4:3:2 vs. 2:1:1 debate going here. Riddle me this.
My Goalie rating is 76 or something right now with my 4:3:2 as starter and 2:1:1 as backup.
Thus G1 = 153/110/80 with 46 EXP
and G2 = 168/89/84 with 23 EXP
Now. If you subscribe to the 20% bonus for 100exp that means G1 has a 9.2% bonus while G2 has a 4.6% bonus. Thus
G1 = 167/120/87
G2 = 176/93/88
Now G1's energy is 99/99 and G2's energy is 100/100. But chemistry is 100:15 in favour of G1. Thus if you subscribe to 20% boost for 100chem you'll have:
G1 = 200/144/104
G2 = 181/96/91
My question is... the effective difference between my two goalies isn't that much.... less then 20 prime. However the drop in pucks/stars is quite noticeable. Does a drop from 76 to 71 or 72 mean 4:3:2 is better then 2:1:1? I'm trying to account for everything here... (Thoughts?)

Total bundle for G1 = 448 / 76 stars = 5.89 Total for G2 = 368 / 71 stars = 5.18 So 2:1:1 gives you a star every 5.18 points vs. 5.89 points for 4:3:2. 2:1:1 is better according to stars ....
20% bonus for 100exp and 100chem is a myth. Just like bigfoot. Or Swedish twins.
The only thing that I know for sure, and it's been confirmed by the programmers of the game, is that the secondary attributes are absolutely equal.

Since when? Devs had confirmed 20% to another team member. And I'd like to see EXACTLY where they said atty2 and atty3 are of equal importance...
Yes, please somebody confirm. I'm so tired of testing bundles.
Especially since the guide used to say:
Primary/Secondary/Tertiary
And now says:
Primary/Secondary/Secondary
Primary/Secondary/Tertiary
And now says:
Primary/Secondary/Secondary
If the devs are going to give out extra information in the guide they need to put it in a public place like the guide or a faq.
Doesnt seem right that they only tell a small percentage of the user base.

Devs will try to keep as much of a secret about the game as possible, otherwise there would be nothing to discover and everyone would train the players the same way. However, that percentage bonus for experience and chemistry has not been confirmed by anyone. Especially since the line chemistry is important, not an individual player chemistry.
As for the attributes, feel free to train your players as you wish. There is a reason why the both attributes are called "secondary", but it's up to everyone to train the players their own way.

They don't give out any extra information to anyone, not even to their friends they knew before.
