Good idea. We really should be getting more information about how the faceoffs in a game are going.
It is influenced by the players overall ability. But tech is the main component. I can get a more formal response if you wish...
In the guide it says:
"Technique also helps you to win faceoffs." And in regards to passing: "this attribute is also used for faceoffs."

Overall ability meaning however offence and technique are capped?
More or less. But tech is the main contributing factor from what I recall.
If I were designing, aggression and passing would also have effects - aggression to win the battle and passing to get it to someone in particular. But my guess is that it's just technique.
You could say that for a lot of things too. Agr needed for GKs. G needed for D (shot blocking) etc.
And what about a draft? Scouting prospects from junior leagues, and even using those picks in trades too.
