this is what I was mentioning in the news some time back and also what we plan to change for season 8 to represent the difference in strength as well as ratio.
thanks theeagle, your stats are always very interesting! but I guess this problem could not be solved with the best stats. there always will be crying people... I guess this problem only could be solved if we get some more hints WHY a single game got lost. So we need more informatins about one single game. maybe we have to see in which positions all the shots went. so we could see that our attackers did targeting the keeper and not the net ;o)
but this only makes sense if this information influences the game engine...

I *believe* that these big upsets are actually impossible to explain using numbers and ratios. Typically the much weaker team is just that - much weaker in all lines. Perhaps the stronger team had caught a collective flue, or eaten rotten Japanese Sushi before the game. Things do go wrong sometimes in the real life, too.
I'm aware of that, which is why this forum needs a major upgrade.
but then you saw the match and in almost all cases you know a bit more than if you only see the stats of this game. and this is what I mean: we should get some hints why a game was lost or won. I'm sure this would make this game to a special one!
i agree with you, but i think this is not too easy to accomplish. the calculation is all about chance, how do you tell the manager about that?
like for example there is a 70% chance to score for team A during a calculation but the shot goes wide. you can not write that 70% into the match summary.
there is always a loss of information during the transformation of numbers to readable text. personally, i would love to see hints during the live text. shots with a high scoring percentage could be written as easy goals and written as impossible miss if they go wide and so on. you would still not see the whole truth about the calculation though. we have all that text blocks, but they are totally random at the moment.

this must not be. When I read that we get live matches, I was hoping that in this text we get a lot of information about the match and about positioning of the players, about the quality of the passes, about the control and the shots, about the tackling or the check of a defender. but in live text there are just useless textblocks. When I read that my attacker makes a long pass to the central defender then I could only shake my head... this makes no sense if I read it 3 time in one match.
so this is just an example how it could look like:
Minute 76
Ihsan Onur Çaliskan of RDev made an excellent pass to Richard McEwan in the middle.
Raphael Hädener received poor assistance, and was close.
McEwan made a superb reception, and took control of the ball.
McEwan looked for the Striker.
He made a high, good pass to Ditlev Dalgård in the penalty area.
Matteo Pascolo received weak assistance, and was there.
Dalgård made a good reception, and Pascolo made a weak challenge.
Dalgård went for a header from a bad angle.
Goal Attempt!
Dalgård tried to score with a superb header!
Noah Hanimann between the posts was hesitant, and he made a good save attempt.
GOAL!

There you see adjectives which tell me in which quality the actions were calculated. this adjectives are calculated with the skills of each player, his experience (an experienced player often uses his full skills or maybe a bit better) and a bit of luck (a low experienced player often acts below his real skills). then the GE calculates all this actions and at the end we have a result. if you read this text then you know ok, the result ist a bit lucky, but you could read in which actions and why it was lucky. if there is a fantastic shot and the keeper only made a weak save attempt, then it's clear the there is no luck, but there was a great shot! and so on. I have copied this text from another online game. And the devs should know about it. I do not tell that they have to copy this great game, but I hope they develop some ideas how to make it more interessting to play this game. all the critics from last days is showing me that there are some changes needed. And I guess the changes should go in this direction...
sorry for this long posting...

you are talking about football, so its the wrong forum
besides, i guess the hockey engine doesnt know the actions you describe here
besides, i guess the hockey engine doesnt know the actions you describe here
he is talking about GE in general, not football or hockey. football AND hockey
in that case again, i doubt the hockey engine calculates that way
hey, don't tell me you are so uninspred to "translate" this actions to hockey! it was just an example to help the imagination of some people here always telling that it's not necessary to know more details about a game without knowing too much of the engine. this is wrong, if there is a will, then there is a way!
me too. and I guess this seems to be the problem. but as I said, if it's necessary to make some changes, then devs should do it. if it's not needed then the will not do it... I just wanted to show a way how the problems of some managers here could be solved. it's up to the developers how to do it and we and them we all do have to live with all consequences.
Thanks for the work and effort to research this!
it would be very interessting if you repete this stats and only take cupmatches. I could not believe that there is an advantage for the guest-team... in Switzerland we have again almost all Top10 teams out of cup before quarterfinals...
but as I said: discussions about such things will never end, no statistic will stop it.
