We are all finding our way in basketball at the moment and there are few hard and fast rules. The guide gives some indications as to what skills are important by position and does the overall player rating of players in the games they play.
It really is about experimenting at the moment and finding out what works for ourselves...
Good luck!

After a blatant error in my player development schemes (see for instance my Étienne Cipriani who is vastly under-performing given his OR ; 25 rating at 93/93 energy and 9 xp), I had an idea about player development today, and the way many of us could have been misled.
Percentages.
If you think of player development in terms of percentages, starting from 0 going up to 100, 50% is the average.
But if you think about it in terms of notches, without a 0, and instead say there are 5 notches from 1 to 5 ; the average would then be 3, i.e. 60%, NOT 50%. And so on.
I had that intuition when I realized my younger players, especially shooting guards and power forwards, were underperforming compared to my older players, the only valuable explanation for this beeing the difference in experience (not sufficient in itself, though), and in minor characteristics (which are way higher for older players given that they were "born" with 40+ minor characteristics).
Thus my older players had to have a better development even though their lesser qualities were way higher than my current development suggests they should be.
Now if I think in terms of notches from 1 to 5, it seems to fit quite well my older player's current development and their much better performances.
I might be proven wrong by the time my players re-develop to my new schemes but I have a strong intuition it is that simple - and pretty straightforward after all.
