lol... you should plan for that worst case scenario.
from what I know from other sports (hockey for instance), losing your starting goalie is no excuse as far as the general sponsors are concerned.
In hockey, if your goaltending rating drops from 100+ during the regular season, to 50s or so in the playoffs (because you're playing a shit backup). The sponsors will actually think you're "playing a lessor lineup" and/or "trying to throw the playoffs."
And your sponsorship deal the following season will take a hit.
Conclusion:
If you don't have a reasonably comparable backup goalie, get one. Boy scout motto brother: "be prepared."

Yeah let me get right on that and spend $10 million plus on a back-up goalie... :
Something I just noticed: EIC hasn't done a single sports academy training camp this season.
What's he waiting for I wonder? Even if he lost all of his remaining regular season games, he'd still have 1st place locked up (by a mile).
Something tells me he's gonna have camps overflowing into his first games of next season (which is not desirable at all if he does advance to I.1).

I'll be selling one at the end of the regular season if you want one. I don't mind taking your money.
I've actually got 3 guys right now that are better than 100 goa/80 blk/60 pas.

This was in basketball, but this is EXACTLY what I'm talking about.

I call it "the 2 minutes of impending doom."

hmmm. do you mind me asking? what were their attributes and qualities?
I'm trying to figure out what market value is for my goalies, but (especially with Larkin), i'm having difficulty finding comparables.

That might all be true, but worst case scenario for me is facing the Fatty Cats. So that's what will happen. I know your post is a few days old already, but the DFC are now 4 points back with 5 to play. It's gonna happen.
And I definitely won't be playing Rowan until he's healthy. Unless I get desperate. Rivard isn't an awful backup. He actually started for a while when I got my team, so he has the exp and chem. I just worry about the younger 3rd/4th string guys getting in and letting in 9 goals on 10 shots or something.

nope. I'll bet you any amount of money DFC finishes in 7th.
Seriously. He played me today. And lost by 2 points (after I went H to come back from losing at halftime).
Look at their schedules going forward. I actually doubt Cactus HC wins more than 1 game from here. DFC could possibly win all 5 of his remaining games.
And anyways... if that's your worst case scenario, you should plan for it! by running a training camp! hahaha.

Shut up. I'm trying to do the reverse jinx. Talk about something enough and it won't happen. DFC will stumble, Cactus will get an unexpected win. Something weird will happen.
I don't like running camps during the season. The main reason is it would require work on my part. I joked about that in the email, but it's true. I've coasted the first 83 days of the season. I'm not about to start doing things now.
And running camps now would drop chem a bit. I guess with proper planning I could mitigate that. But that means more things need doing in a timely manner. The horror.
I always have camps running over Into the following season.

lol. gotcha.
Subtext is completely lost in online forums.
That strategy is new to me. Maybe that's why I never pull many superstars from my SA... and why i had so many injuries to key players this season.
I always hope for the best from my SA, and hope to avoid injuries. Here I should have been pessimistic this whole time!

Well it looks like I am getting Cold Mountain, I really see no way I am climbing back into 5th. So, I will be out in 2. Cold owns my team.
On the bright side, after the last training camp, 2 of my SA players will be ready to be Starters.

Well... planning for today's game was rather bittersweet.
I found myself rather conflicted, because if I defeated CMS today, there was a really good chance that I'll have to face the Damn Fatty Cats in the playoffs. If I lost to CMS today, there was a reasonable chance that I could face Joshua Eagles in the playoffs.
Having realized that I have absolutely zero preference between the two (both are very good teams, and either scenario pretty much sucks), I just decided to continue with my normal strategy: "win every muthafycking game I can."
And.... it looks like I managed to take CMS down today.
So, baring something uncharacteristic and unexpected, the odds are pretty good at this point that the playoff match-ups will be as follows:
1) EIC
vs.
8) Cactus HC
2) Doppelgangers
vs.
7) Damn Fatty Cats
3) Cold Mountain Strikes
vs.
6) Joshua Eagles
4) Quadriplegics
vs.
5) Cataclysm
The 4) and 5) seeds will be interesting to watch going forward though, as they still have home court advantage to play for, and they currently have the same number of points in the standings.
As far as my "super-early" prediction of who will promote:
I'm thinking that based on the anticipated playoff seeds above, EIC, CMS and Fatty Cats have a pretty good chance at making it into I.1 this season. Depending on how things go down, I wouldn't be surprised to see 2 of them make it through.

Aha. CMS played with L/VL energy today. No wonder i beat him.
Looks like he's saving energy for playoffs maybe.

Probably. I just played all my 15 year olds on high to gain exp.
