Also we need to mention that 4 of those points are direct matchs. If Hanover and Cataclysm win both matches against Team USA and/or Erratic the difference would only be 4 and 5 points respectively. So, 2 and 2.5 matches only behind. Not much considering there will be 24 matches to reduce this difference.
lol, it would only work if only one of them decide to make a big push or else they would have to also compete against each other and even if they pass you or Team USA it would not necessarily mean they made the playoffs.
It's probably a safer strategy to conserve energy, but also less fun. Despite putting money (from selling players) into players, I still have a max triple being built and should be able to upgrade my training facility, sports academy, and HR as planned.
To be fair, I actually do have the equivalent of SA pulls walking into my lineup despite selling some depth. My starting goaltender (who was my backup until recently) still has 98 energy (and my new backup/former third strink goalie is almost identical if a year older). The fourth best player on my team is a backup pivot that hasn't really played so far but is almost as good as my starter minus the experience. My new back has only played three games and will improve rapidly as his ratios improve, and I plan to acquire a new universal wing as well. 2 of the three remaining positions can still be split between 4 quality players. My team will also gain chemistry as it losses energy.
Though I won't have any easy wins, I should be able to compete with the all but the very best teams. I honestly expect to end up in about 10th place without some luck

My 1st half was very good. My players energy are at the planned level, 6 points ahead of 3rd although i wish i had that difference ahead of 2nd as well.
the biggest disappointment was my sports academy that failed to produce a single decent player. Next pull will be level 10. I will be pulling 2 almost back to back. My second half plan will be based on those next two pulls.

I honestly came into this season hoping to compete for a top 4/5 spot, but now find myself just hoping to make it to playoffs. I still have to figure out the best tactics for my team and compensate for a comparatively dry sports academy this season.
I don't know that competing against a division 2 opponent in a relegation match is really a desirable situation though...
I am very happy with my 16-10 record. Very solid record with my team. I am concerned with the shots against but I understand that will be the issue with a 70-100 gap in OR with some of my first line players. We are just going to allow a ton of shots. Energy is better than last year on my key players. Second half I can go .500 and squeak into the playoff's as I do not see anyone below 8th going 17-9. I am setting my magic number at 22 points against the active teams to secure a playoff spot.
2nd half I will start RF11 (day 63), SA12 (day 81) and TF12 (Day 93).
I am very happy with how Darron Marrero has played. Soon he will start training on the secondary traits and has played well with just being tossed into the first line with zero chem. and exp. Next season he will be a beast on the steals and blocked shots.
SA this season has been dry as well. Just like last year and the year before, LOL.
I still have 8 players from Day1 Season1. Oh well.
So all in all I am very happy with the record that this team of pluggers has accomplished. Mind you I could go for 2 or 3 SA pulls that I can get trained up for next season.

It depends on who can save more energy prior to the match. A team knowing cannot make the playoffs could cruise the regular season saving energy while the D2 likely will spend more in the playoffs.
Granted, D1 teams (non playoff) will have to play 10 matches. That is more than D2 will play less.
And the D1 will have home court advantage.
Id not say it is desirable, but beats spending energy in vain trying to make playoffs and fail.

I think 9th to 11th will go 2-1 against D2 teams in regulation round.

Wow, I'm surprised Suggs made the top 5. Every game I watch, he seems to miss a couple of 7m shots.
Oh crap another loss in the semi finals of NC. Shoulda went on High from beginning. Now all the force goes into league play.

2 more meh pulls from the SA10 A 201 1 star player and a 5/6 U 242 Winger which allows me remove a 224 OR from my starting lineup. Yay and holy crap at the same time
Now I have 3 players below 250 who are starters. Next month the OG will finally have their 3rd player above 300.
Aging pivot Rollie Cummings.
