Good to know someone else has been there! My current plan for the next couple of seasons involves being laser focused on HR and arena.

So the guy who bought Leo Patel during my accidental fire sale is trying to convince me that Patel's is somehow now worth 500m (double the 250m he paid for him just 60 days ago).

he messaged me unsolicited a few days ago asking me if i wanted to buy him back, and i said "sure, as i said in the days following his sale, I'll pay 50m more than you bought him for."

apparently greed is alive and well in PPM though, because he doesn't think that's a good enough deal for some reason.

I think i might set a reminder so i can throw 300m at him when he becomes a RFA. just for a bit of pay back.

Nice! Are you kind of re-purchasing your old players, or just seeking to rebuild from your base up?

Hey guys, thanks for the vote of confidence in the U19 elections. I've been spending time scanning our best young players, and am almost through with all the scouts. I've made a bunch of changes to the roster - only had to eliminate 3 questionable choices, so mainly I've been adding players. I have 4 open slots that I'll keep open for now as a contingency.

This year's team has solid balance, and I expect us to make the final 16 in the world championship, aspiring to advance to the final 8 if the draw falls our way.

The 17YO and 18YO crop is decent...a couple of holes at Def PV and 2nd GK, but we should remain competitive. I'm retraining one of my 17YOs to hopefully cover the Def PV long-term, and hopefully my scouts will turn up another 17/18YO goalie, but I'm losing hope

At the younger ages we do tend to have more depth on the offensive side than defense, so if any of your good young players are close between SHO and BLK, feel free to train them as defensive players.

I'll update later in the season. For now I'll play around with a couple of lineups in friendlies. Feel free to message me with any questions or intel!

well... certain guys, i'd be interested in buying back if i can. players whom have several years worth of bonuses paid (who would be cheap to keep as free agents).

Most of them, I'm resigned to the notion that they're gone and probably never coming back. But I sent out feelers in the days following my accidental fire sale to see if there was any interest in the purchasers reselling them back to me.

so far, no luck. And it seems as though some of the people are behaving in dubious ways. I think the guy with Patel was trying to take advantage of the situation.

But i'm not stupid enough to overpay for someone just because i want them back.

Fwiw, i drafted a high AQ 15 year old goalie a couple of weeks ago, Gregg Constantine . He's only 5/6 CL, so not the best for the long run, but he should be very good for the U19 and U21 teams as he ages up (especially since i don't really have many other options lol).

He won't give you much immediate depth, but he might give you someone decent to lean on by the time he's 17 (2 seasons from now). He'll be around 800-850 OR by the start of the season when he's 17 years old. I find that with the U19 team, it's all about just having the heads up so you can remember to keep an eye on guys.

*HELPFUL HINT*
A helpful strategy i used was to add every young US-born player to my "followed players" list. I would ONLY add US-Born players to that list. At the start of each season, I'd sort it by age and OR, and use that as the food for updating the roster and it was pretty effective.

This protects you from "missing" players who may have been sold or traded to teams outside of the U.S. too. Once you add them to followed players, they're there forever. I have over a thousand on my list atm (I've started using it to run statistical analysis on CL progression), so don't worry, you won't run out of space (there doesn't seem to be a cap on how many players you can follow).

The guy wrote me complaining how its somehow unfair that he would "ONLY" get a 35m profit after the trade fees get taken out. Then he started talking about how he's so rich that he doesn't need to sell him for such a small gain.

"300m isn't a humbling offer. it's 50m more than you paid just 60 days ago. Literally a 20% profit in 60 days. I challenge you to find any return on any investment in the real world that comes close to that.

And just because you may have 3.5b doesn't make Patel worth what you're asking. he's worth what he's worth. 60 days ago he was worth 251m. now he's MAYBE worth 50m more (but even that's questionable. that's the price i'm largely offering for sentimental reasons). So if you're so disgustingly rich that a free, effortless 50m profit isn't worth your time, I don't really know what to say. Literally the only thing you did was show up at an auction, buy him, and then not fuck him up. Good job, but that's not worth 250m. You're not that special. no matter what your mom might say.

It's fine though... I'll just wait until he becomes an RFA and throw several hundred millions $ at him then. And you can pay for him twice or make half as much then as you would've made by just selling him now. *shrug* You might have lots of money, but I'm patient, and after all this nonsense, i'll get great pleasure from doing that."

yeah... i mean. i can troll with the best of them if i get pushed or annoyed by someone. and honestly... i really just don't give a f*ck about this guy. i have no patience for people who try to manipulate their way into exorbitant profits from dealings.

now the guy is trying to threaten that he'll get me kicked off of the game "for my behavior." so rather than just ... i dunno, not reply, he keeps on writing me, and is now threatening me LOL. so he gets this:

That's literally insane. that's not an outlandish or inflammatory statement. Nothing of known quantity and quality changes value that much in such a short period of time.

Regardless, you're threatening the wrong person anyways. I was incredibly close to quitting once i realized that my entire team was being snatched away from me for the stupidest reason imaginable. If i WERE to get banned at this point, it would result in the world's largest *shrug* from me.

Your threats are also predicated on the idea that the people running this game even care anymore. which we both I'm sure know, they do not. so nice try with the threats. I'd advise you to try again with something different, but there's really nothing you could do or say that would bother me tbh. And there's nothing you could say that would make me think you're not an entitled, greedy troll.

i'm actually wondering if this guy has some sort of compulsion in getting the last word. but at this point it's just become good fun responding to him. it's like that youtube video i once watched when the guy scammed a email scam artist.

I would recommend to ignore and let him have the last word and forget about it....

yeah. I keep on thinking I'm done with him, and then he sends another trolling message. most bizarre thing ever. I'm not really entirely sure what he wants from me. I told him what i was willing to pay, and it's almost as if he's trying to prove to me that number is wrong. which is silly, because i won't change my mind.
I'm very thoughtful before throwing numbers out there.

I think the next time I'll just block him and be done with it tbh, because while it's somewhat entertaining trolling him back, I just don't care anymore lol.

man... schedule really wanted to screw over my attendance numbers quick... pitting me against literally every strong team in the first two weeks of the season. annoying.

1-6 is probably the worst start to a season i think i've EVER had since i started playing handball.

That does stink. But at least you're not 0-7, like some people in this league (haha)
