My understanding is a bit different. The overall team strength is what you're saying, the strength on paper. I've seen Vlady say something to the effect of the pucks show how that line did on that day. So the pucks are more of an accurate snapshot of that daily performance, exp, chemistry and the like.

Question: Is there a disconnect between "how a line performs" and "results"?

For example a line could play exceptionally well, but just not manage to score. On the other hand a line could not play as well, but get lucky and put one in. Therefore making the "performance" a matter of overall play as opposed to visible results.

A follow on from my last comparison of attendance in Friendlies

Two more games against different teams to compare:
First played Thur (just after last day of reg season)
Second played Sat (after first playoff game)

Arena capacity:
My Stand so same for both games

Level of stands:
My Stand so same for both games

Additional Medium Seat Snack Bar against second team
so second game should get more attendance for this.

Level of scoreboard:
My Stand so same for both games

Position of your team in the league standings:
My team 4th in standing for both games (just a playoff match inbetween which all three teams won)

Position of the opponent in the league standings
Both opponents were ranked 1st in their league.

Point difference between the teams in the league standings (the smaller the difference, the bigger the attendance):
Team 1: 24 points ahead of me.
Team 2: 7 points ahead of me.
So second game should get more attendance for this.

League level
Team 1: iii2
Team 2: i1
So second game should get more attendance for this.

Overall team rating
Team 1: ~256
Team 2: ~325
So second game should get more attendance for this.

Popularity of your and opponent's players
Popularity of players of first team a bit better than second team.
So first game should get more attendance for this.

Derby game:
Neither game was a Derby

So based on the above i would have thought that the second game should have more attendance quite easily given the closer point difference, the better league level and the better OTR but i was wrong.

Game1 Attendance: 2280
Game 2 Attendance: 1953

Now dont get me wrong - im not complaining about the amount of people im getting to games cause it huge for a friendly but i am confused by which games have higher attendance. All i can put this down to at the moment is a random factor.

I will keep everyone updated as i play more games against these teams.

thats true, i thought we would get full arena or atleast 2500 fans, since we both in 1st league and have OTR over 320... this is weird!

My 2 cents on this:
1st: pucks and stars represent the same thing, whatever it is. The only difference is that the pucks are representing the strengths for each line separately.
2nd: there is too much luck involved in scoring the goals. Better teams with better goaltending and more shots on a given match are defeated in too many such matches.

I believe this to be incorrect, Eeoulo. Nothing shows how well or poorly a team played in a particular game.

True. I'we won a match 6-0 and lose the next one 0-5 with the the same number of pucks (and stars) and the opponent pucks/stars worse at the 2nd match. I haven't been outshooted on either of them, the only difference was shooting/goaltending percentage.
