its miss, save or goal on penalty. there are no other options.
on regular plays there are also other options like foul, offside etc. also on regular plays there are more factors being taken into account. On penalties it is only the shooter and the goalie and their relevant attributes for that set play.

In the rules it states that for a shot, a player needs shooting (major influence) technique (medium influence) and speed/heading (small influence)
Can someone explain the following statistics of my team:
Player 1: 40 shooting, 26 technique, 20 speed, 15 heading
Player 2: 36 shooting, 20 technique, 27 speed, 21 heading
Player 3: 22 shooting, 24 technique, 27 speed, 25 heading
Player 4: 23 shooting, 30 technique, 22 speed, 21 heading (mid)
Player 5: 31 shooting, 30 technique, 22 speed, 23 heading, 30 passing (def, SP taker)
Player 6: 27 shooting, 30 technique, 36 speed, 26 heading (def)
Player 7: 19 shooting, 15 technique, 17 speed, 18 heading (mid)
Player 1: 85 shots, 43 on goal, 6 goals (7% goal)
Player 2: 55 shots, 23 on goal, 11 goals (20% goal)
Player 3: 51 shots, 19 on goal, 8 goals (16% goal)
Player 4: 36 shots, 14 on goal, 8 goals (22% goal)
Player 5: 36 shots, 4 on goal, 2 goals (5,5% goal)
Player 6: 18 shots, 5 on goal, 2 goals (11% goal)
Player 7: 13 shots, 7 on goal, 2 goals (15% goal)
Surprisingly, the 2 players with the highest combined shooting and technique skill (66 and 61) have the lowest scoring percentage (7% and 5,5%), even though the rules clearly state those two skills as the main factors to score a goal.
Yes, it could be random, or bad luck, or whatever you like to call it, the fact remains that it is kind of odd.
I would like anyone who is willing to invest time, to check out their statistics for a certain set of players (forwards and a few other players). I'm very curious what statistic come out of it. Thanks in advance for those who do this.

I guess you also should write on which position the players played... I think you only could compare attackers and not midfielders with attackers...
anyway, my stats, only players who played at least in the offensive midfield:
P1: 84 shots, 27 on goal, 11 goals (13%)
P2: 54 shots, 22 on goal, 10 goals (19%)
P3: 33 shots, 7 on goal, 2 goals (6%)
P4: 31 shots, 11 on goal, 2 goals (6%)
P5: 21 shots, 8 on goal, 1 goal (5%)
all other players did not make enough shots for comparing.
P1: 52 att, 32 sho, 31 tec, 30 spe, 30 head
P2: 50 att, 30 sho, 28 tec, 21 spe, 25 head
P3: 50 mid, 30 att, 30 sho, 30 tec, 25 spe, 23 head (mid)
P4: 46 att, 30 sho, 30 tec, 27 spe, 29 head
P5: 40 mid, 26 att, 30 sho, 23 tec, 30 spe, 20 head (mid)
P1 and P2 are my almost every game playing attackers.
so it's clear why they have better values. but I have to say that this ratio was in an other way 2 weeks ago... so I guess it's hard to compare now. it's a lot of random in this game and so it's clear that you could not compare after about 30 games with a high level of sureness.
and you also must think about the dynamic of skill changes: as long as you train the players they change their behaviour...
but it's really interessting to compare such data.

I'm only showing my top 2 forwards, and i haven't shared their Offense attribute numbers which I believe does play a role.

It's all very well showing your players numbers guys, but the standard of opposition in your leagues play a vital role in the % of goals - games ratio.
In that case my team plays in div1 with 5 inactive teams.
A better way to garner more accurate numbers would be to count how many goals and shots your players had against teams with managers, forget the TNN's in your conclusions.
You numbers are differnt from everyone elses. You did your % based only on Shot on Target while everyone else has done total Shots (On target & wide)
Yes, but to get an accurate figure, it should only be done on shots on target.
For the record though, this is the (inaccurate) but total figure:
P1 - 112 Total Shots - 18G - 16%
P2 - 96 Total Shots - 11G - 11.4%
P1 - 112 Total Shots - 18G - 16%
P2 - 96 Total Shots - 11G - 11.4%
