Ok, lets not be to harsh, eh..
First week in!!

Not a bad result considering how strong the Danes are.
We went 2 down, but we got it back to 2-2 and a penalty shoot-out, which is a lottery anyway.
Thanks Henrik & Loerup for the game.
For our first game, it's clear how hard we will need to work, but we've plenty of potential in the squad, and as our line chemistry increases, we will get better, remember, we started with 0% line chemistry through the 4 lines.

as i say in pm use both goalies not only one each game. you need chemistry more than victories
Yes, I seen that, thanks Jusper.
Problem is, when I set the 2nd GK to come on, it reset the 2nd values in the goals to 0-0, rather than 0-99.

Anyway, its easy to criticise, but it's only our first game, and as you can see from the team strength, we're not as strong as most of the other national teams.
So it's gonna be a tough 1st season, I won't kid myself on that front.

When chemistry will grow up you will be stronger!
It is ok to build the squad that is more geared towards the future but I feel it was very immature and unprofessional decision to nominate 50 players immediately. You can use only 28 players in one NT game, so the remaining 22 players have absolutely no advantage for being in the national squad. You should have nominated these when you would want them to be in the selection for the NT game... instead, you filled in all the spots too soon and now if better player is discovered, he won't get to the national team of the upcoming World Championship...
Unprofessional, immature????
Up to last week, Ireland had never gotten a national team, never mind a national team manager to get tips from.
I'm still learning, as are we all.
I, along with the rest of us learn from our mistakes as we go on. So yeah, there may have been 1 or 2 things I could have done differently, but show me someone who is happy with everything they've done!
I doubt we will see any players that are better than the ones in the team already that may appear at a later stage. Maybe 1, or 2. But they will appear in the next season.
50 players were chosen, lot of youngsters were included, and it is my intention to play all of them at some stage in the friendly games to gain experience, some may even get into the more important games later on the season depending on how well they train, which will be a huge bonus for us.
But......
As I sated in a previous thread, we are a new nation getting used to NT games/squads/players, etc, etc... And we have a team who are lower than most on team strength, experience and chemistry.
So while criticism is welcome, I would like it to be fair and justified. To call my decisions so far, as unprofessional and immature is hardly fair.
After all, we got a creditable result in our first game, only being beaten in a penalty shoot out.
I'm sure there will be games where we will get a good pasting, but I'm more confident of us being as competitive as possible, and causing some of the bigger teams some problems.
As I said, critique is welcome, as long as it is fair.

Well, I was an NT assistant in the first NT season and we didn't do such thing... if you read the guide carefully, it is very easy to figure out the right strategy... your NT is new, but you are not...
Also, you haven't done proper search for Irish players in the other countries - there may be some suitable Irish players out there. Remember you have missed as great player as Roland, how many other good players may be out there? Why not leaving a free spot for them?
As regarding the decision to play 50 players, is it really good tactics? Don't you guys need one strong team of 28 players instead of having 50 average players? Isn't it better to give experience and chemistry to the top ones only? Think about it...
As you can see, I am not criticising you for the results... My criticism goes towards the way the national team is managed. In my opinion, you are very experienced manager and your decision should reflect this... if you are not confident enough, get help...there are many managers who are experienced enough and can help you.

lol, ok, thanks.
I know about the Rowlands player, it seems he is the only guy I missed. As for not conducting a proper search, then I 100% disagree with you. I got a database set up, and conducted a search for all Irish players, Martin Rowlands was not sent to the database, and I only found out about him AFTER the squad was selected.
I also have a capable assistant in cavaelen who will be quite valuable to the Irish set-up. I've also received numerous emails from managers regarding help on the NT.
Regarding choosing 50 players, that was deliberate.
It is a tactic of our choosing, so whether you think it was a good idea or not, doesn't hold any water. It was decision that was made in the interest of the NT.
It's a moot point, therefore.
And giving players games to earn experience is something I've spoken about to those helping me.
Ireland are not gonna win the WC, it is more likely to be a learning curve for this team, and hopefully future Ireland managers will benefit from us building a team for the future. The current crop may prove not to be good enough this season, but they may cause some shocks, after all, we will be huge underdogs in most of ou games, with or without Martin Rowlands, and the 1 or 2 players that may come through SA's from other clubs.
We will need a good team of 28 players to compete, but we will need to let them play, gain experience, and for me, the younger our better players are, the better.
That is part of our strategy, some will agree, some wont. But it is the way it is being done right now.
I may be around this game a long time, but like you, I'm still learning.
Also, I'm quite confident about being the national manager, otherwise I would not have accepted this challenge.
One more thing however... you are not criticising the results, only 1 game so far, yet you are criticising the way the NT is being managed??
Shouldn't the scorelines reflect how the team is managed? I could understand if we got beaten 9 or 10-nil, but this is not the case.
I think your being very harsh here, on a brand new NT team.
But I have listened to what you have said.
Thank you.

never mind, there is no way you can understand what I am trying to explain you...
Your post was perfectly clear radowan, I understood every bit of it.
And I have responded to each part.
I could say you don't understand me either, but we simply have a different outlook, that's all.

On the contrary i think he understands everything you are saying and i know i certainly do.
Yes, putting in all 50 players in to begin with wasnt ideal given expecially given Roland was missed but thats what Emerald chose and so we move on.
Yes, we missed a great player in Roland. I would love to know your suggestions for finding these players. How would you go about it?
What i did was to go through every irish team in the irish leagues and through all their transactions and Roland wasnt there. He was traded by a team that no longer exists and therefore was missed. How do you pick up these players? Do you just have to hope that the team their on speaks up?
