Yesterday I tallied the player country representation on the clubs in the 8 Canadian divisions. I thought I'd share the results. These are the amounts of players from various countries on the Canadian teams. Canada is #1 as all teams start with all Canadian players, and are given Canadian youth to pull from their academies and the drafts.
3883 Canada
237 Czechia
221 Slovakia
108 Germany
90 Poland
83 Latvia
77 France
76 Russia
75 Hungary
69 Finland
52 Switzerland
44 Sweden
38 Romania
36 Serbia, Italy, and Spain
35 Croatia
30 Great Britain
27 Greece and Austria
26 USA
25 Slovenia and Bulgaria
23 Ukraine
22 Belarus
17 Belgium and Portugal
16 Brazil
14 Lithuania
13 Denmark
12 Australia
11 Argentina
10 Ireland
8 South Korea and Estonia

All teams except the following have Canada represented with the greatest percentage on their team (with the country in brackets showing the country that does have the greatest representation): Canadien de Montreal 117355 † (Slovakia), seattle seahawks (Czechia), Les Assassins (Slovakia/France), HC Soulanges† (Slovakia), Groenfeld Meadow Knights (Canada tied with Russia and South Korea), Star Select - nonHA (Greece), rays marauders (Czechia/Slovakia), Trackvale (Czechia/Slovakia), Senators (Czechia), N0. 21 (Slovakia/Germany), and the Jordan Lions (Australia), Maroons (Czechia).
The numbers would be significantly different if applied to only those players that actually had ice time. Canada wuld get a lot less of the pie since many teams have a mostly foreign line-up and a mostly Canadian youth development.
Thought: This game genre needs more exposure in the US.

Interesting exercise. Definately, growing home talent brings some advantages (both in terms of salary and developing NT players for ourselves). Those Slovaks and Czechs have strong leagues and get to develop way more talent than we can.
I agree the game would benefit from growing in America.

The game is not being updated or improved anymore, so chances of that happening are pretty low, though.
If they'd introduce some UI re-design to make certain tasks less painful, even without changing the mechanics, it would show that they care, at least a little...
