i want to note that I am very against assigning an international assistant when there are active USA managers interested in the position as manager and assistant.

Maybe I'm just patriotic or something, but it actually even rubs me wrong that in order to compete in hockey, you're almost required to have a largely international team. I tell myself it's ok, because that's how the NHL is, but it still kind of bothers me.

I'm hoping that as of next season on, my handball team will be entirely USA. Even if that means a slight to moderate disadvantage in the later seasons, I think it'll be fun.

But yeah... I hope we never have an international national team manager. I mean, how can you even trust them to care? why should they?

That's because it's just in the first round where the votes don't really matter unless we have a large number of people running. All you're really voting for at this point is who gets to be at the top of the list in round 2 (which is actually pretty significant I suppose, given how lazy most voters are ).

The voting that actually counts is in the first week of the next season.

I tend to favor veteran managers for national teams, but it has little to do with their tactical ability to win games. I'm more concerned that they stick around and don't abandon the team.

Passion is nice, but it can burn out quickly. I've been around long enough to see plenty of managers join the site, post excitedly for a few months, and then completely disappear.

It's a new sport though, so everybody gets a fair shake at first, at least from me. But as the seasons go on, managers who've proven they'll stick around are going to be heavily favored for my vote.

Agree 100% with Zomg. I was about to write the same thing. I want to be sure, that the guy who runs the team, wont disappear.

a veteran can get bored and also abandon the game...

I think it is all about involvement .. managers who are involved on somethings , like ...
1. trying to help others
2. trying to be creative and make things more fun
3. trying to bring new managers to USA
4. trying to motivate new managers
5. help scouting
6. bring new ideas
7. create logos, court,etc ..
8. plan and execute having a world cup in USA
9. post on the boards
10. and more...

i think the ones consistently doing those have less chance to abandon the game.

i will build the database and a usa manager would have access to it. I honestly do not want members of other countries to have access to it and that is why i am against having international assistants.

I think all 3 USA candidates have shown will stick with the game. So i think the argument should be what you 3 want/plan to bring to the game.

who they plan to have as assistants, and etc ...

WasSup has the edge because being more vocal on the plans.

I'm not a fan of foreign managers having manager/assistant roles on our national teams when there are qualified domestic candidates interested. These domestic managers may not have an opportunity to fill one of these roles in the future. I have no reason to believe that foreign managers who have not been active in discussions will suddenly become active in discussions after being named to a position. A similar, but slightly weaker, argument goes for foreign managers who become active in our discussions a few months before an election and are only active in the national team thread.

As for experience in the PPM spectrum of sports; the biggest advantage is the ability to analyze and predict player improvement. Not all experienced managers are good at this, but an experienced, active manager would be expected to have an advantage in this department over a relative newcomer.

I agree with Zomg and Outsiders that we've seen a lot of managers join, post a lot, and then disappear. Passion is often short-lived and I would prefer someone who is past the honeymoon phase of the game. Tesco and Outsiders are my top choices for the position (in no particular order, for now).

When you're building the database, let me know if you need any help. I don't have the amount of time that I've sometimes had in the past to work on these kind of projects, but I'll have more time over the next couple of months then the last couple of months.

i will start tomorrow. need to take advantage of this free time i will have. dont know how long it will last.

you placed the argument about passion .. and experience. but them say Tesco and Outsider are your top choices ...

I see both having the same "experience"
I also see WasUp being more "active". he looks for friends, spends credits, create tournaments..

My argument is: if you are worried or against new managers, then Outsider is your only candidate as numbers show WasUp would have less potential to quit than Tesco (although i dont think neither will)

and since i cant edit anymore: this 2 minutes sucks!!

Lastly .. someone who spends money have much more changes to stick than ones that dont spend. those who spend are vested interested it.

One who dont spend could quit for just any reason: get bored, fail to promote and we can name it.

Not saying that Tesco dont spend, just that I dont find it a fair argument to place tesco and remove WasUp based on your argument

I think all that matters is an red, white, blue flag next to NT if we have so many managers vying for job.

Exp doesn't mean anything. The tactics in handball are vastly different then hockey and soccer. To me the winning mgr needs to be in topm3 of their league and show that they can manage.

The next important part is to pick players who will grow fast and be around for awhile.

I said that before I knew each mgr team place in their league. Good luck to all three mgrs. I am with ObryantJ on my top 2. I would only vote outsiders 1st due to his NT exp. however I think both would be fine. All three can be successful if they are active in the forum and ask for help setting up team.

but then again .. you said one thing .. vote on top 3 manager in their league

Outsider: Season 1 finished 6th on regular season and 4th in the playoffs. Currently in 3rd place

Tesco: Season 1 finished 1st in both regular season and playoff promoting to D1. Currently in 5th place

WasUp: Season 1 finished 7th in the regular season and 6th in the playoffs. currently in 3rd place

Nobody had much clue what they were doing and the game had several bugs on first season. Outsider and WasUp "struggled" in that season while tesco promoted to D1.

this season both Outsider and WasUp are top 3 while Tesco is on 5th and going down.

so you also make an argument about being top 3, but wont consider WasUp when he is a top 3 and should qualify according to your standard.

If you say .. lets consider only season 1,then only Tesco qualify, if consider 2nd season, then both Outsider and WasUp qualify. if consider both seasons all 3 qualify.

So I once again dont understand why WasUp is "out"
