staff don't have much effect if the facility is less than level 10. get rid of all the staff for facilities less than 10. that will save you a bunch of money.
My players' salaries are $4.0m a day and the staff is only $1.4m. I can only put a small dent on the staff, as most of my spend is on coaches, physios, and scouting directors. Plus I don't have that many who are nearing the end of their contract, and I don't have the cash to buy them out. I'll definitely go down on the physicians, but that's ~4 weeks away.
I'm going to have to shed some of my more expensive players, and if that fails, then I have to undo some of my facility upgrades...no other choice.

I'm in a similar boat, can't seem to keep afloat! Thankfully, you get the end of season bonus real soon, which should help a bit since you,re in 3rd position.
Player salaries are insane (went up from 3.75M to just about 4M 2 days ago. Ugh!), and trying to stay competitive + build some local talent for the NT is near impossible without sacrificing performance.
Staff is 2.5M, facilities 1.4, arena 1, then I get the dang too many player fees at 400k (which means I have to keep an extra staff in a lot of places). I spend almost 10M daily and get 38M per week in sponsor money.
If I let go my 2 older players (who still have a decent CL, high exp and have been with me since day 1 - i'm a sentimental, this is hard), I would save over about 1M in salary + fees + like 400k in extra staff, but then I'd drop down 2-3 spots in my league ranking so the sponsors would go down as well.
Decisions, decisions...

Handball has for a long time seemed to be pretty poorly balanced to me. It's hard to make money in this sport unless you have a top team or else if you're aggressively cutting all costs to focus on making money.
This has been the first season in a long time where I've been making money overall. I still haven't been able to save enough to build Regeneration 15 or sports academy 15 (I can afford it now, but I want more reserves to take care of free agents; that's assuming I don't decide to go all in on another upgrade or two while my team's at its peak).
Cactus HC doesn't really seem to be doing anything too poorly. It's long been a top 6 team in I.1 and often top 4 team. It's a good enough team that I don't think it's a team that should have to worry about finances if handball were better balanced.

Meanwhile in Basketball, I've maxed out my Arena and Facilities, have a decent roster, and have over a billion to use to try to improve my roster.
No lie...I don't know where to spend my money in basketball...maybe I can transfer it to my handball team lol.
I think I might be at a point where I need to have a few two way players in my lineup so I can carry a smaller overall roster. I don't even keep a 2nd goalie due to costs, but 13 high level players plus some decent bench players, and I'm at $4m a day in player salaries
I sold two of my players - going to make the playoffs brutally hard, but I saved $500k/day on my wage bill. I think I can get there with the year-end bonus and the $8 mil for my home match this weekend plus the sponsor money next Wednesday.

I made it! LOL.
Sold a few players, cut my wages, and yes, the year-end bonuses helped a ton.

Yep, same here. Had to sell a 18yo prospect, sadly. But he fetched a nice 21M and I was able to pay my bonuses while i was in the green. It won't last, but I at least get to keep my veterans for the playoffs!
I'm happy to get my first league title in a I.1 league, both for the regular season and playoffs. I also won the National Cup. Hopefully I can build on this success for a while longer.
Lukas Strapac who's been a starting back for my team since season 3 managed to finally get a title before he retires.

Just letting you guys know Ted Keenan is for sale, with about 96 hours left at this time. I can't afford his daily salary, but if you can, he's one of our NT players! Also, one of our promising U21 backs, Leo Werner , is up for sale as well, at 20 mil currently with about 97 hours at this time.
regarding the budgetary stuff... i agree with cap that the biggest thing in handball is just managing expenses.
having a high OTR really helps, sure... but even when I was winning most of my games several seasons ago, and I had hundreds of millions coming in each season in income, i still had to watch those costs. Which is kinda crazy, but sort of makes some sense to me too. there's a lot of poor people in America who make a ton of money (because they spend just as much).
For what it's worth, if you accidentally sell you're entire team, money becomes much less of an issue. I've been hovering above $2 billion in the bank in handball (ranked 11th in the world) since that fiasco. so there's that at least i guess.
But yeah. don't keep lots of staff. that's probably my biggest piece of advice. And absolutely absolutely make sure that you don't have more than 25 players. My team has spent nearly $20b total since i opened shop in season 1, but I spent a combined $1.5b on player fees for carrying more than 25 players for several seasons (7.5% of my total money spent was wasted this way). It's just not worth it. Had I not done that, I'd have over $3.6b dollars in the bank right now.
Food for thought.
