Maar door mijn lange afwezigheid zijn ze wel erg slecht getraind. Zelfs een vleugelspeler is op 387 passen terecht is gekomen . Die train ik nu maar als verdediger.

Alles traint zins eind vorig seizoen weer zoals ze zouden moeten. Het heeft alleen wel even de tijd nodig voor ze allemaal weer goed staan (en een aantal zullen dat zelfs nooit halen).

Geeft niets. Komt vanzelf goed als je ze goed blijft trainen. En dan komen er vanzelf meer spelers van je in de Nationale teams.

I emphasize with GM's who do not have a ProPack because keeping up with adjusting the training attribute is a pain in the ass. Still, anything close is good enough. Also, i agree with comment that a player can be weak in one attribute if their training number is very poor. For example, a defenceman who is not very aggressive is not a big problem as long as the other numbers are basically right. I have two centers on my club team who shoot very poorly but I try to play them with the best shooting wingers to compensate for this. The most important thing, in my mind, is that there is an effort to keep the guys as close to the ideal as possible. That is enough.

I will start by saying how happy and proud I am to keep the job of the Dutch U20 team. Even more importantly though is the way that it happened. This will be my fifth season with the club. When I started, the Dutch didn’t have a goalie for the first season. More significantly though is that I received one, at most two votes for each of the other elections that I have won. This season there were EIGHT votes! I don’t care about this from my standpoint. I simply mean that eight of you guys decided to vote, which means the interest level in the Dutch national teams are growing, and that is the most important thing possible.
As for the team, I added the core guys last week. I will select a handful more this week. This season, unlike last, will see a major issue in net. We have three sub-par goalies that are worse than the U18 starter. I really tried my best to get IJS’ van de Leur. I got into a bidding war with two (pretty shitty) clubs and one of them finally got the guy for $4.5 million. I stopped bidding at $2 million. Remember here, the IJS manager CUT the guy outright, didn’t even try to sell him. He is an awful goalie with terrible training numbers. My standards may be low but not that low. Yeah, he is still on the national team but that is because there really isn’t anyone else out there. I have contacted Stonecity and have put his two best guys on the team. They aren’t good enough but, with proper training (in his Level 15 facility), their combination of proper training ratios and very high experience should make for at least a passable tandem in net.
Defence is better. Not a lot but some. Please consider Lillian’s manager and my comments on Technique. Wing might be better than last season. This remains the strongest part of the team. Center is slightly deeper and improved but is still awful to be honest. This season’s team continues to grow deeper and perhaps better. Significantly, I cut four guys from last season’s roster since they were no longer needed. Also, I don’t think that I have to fill out the entire roster of fifty guys since the balance between chemistry and skill is closing a bit. I don’t know how much better this club can do at the Worlds (primarily because of our goaltending) but the tactics percentages are where I want them and the club is largely balanced.

Hit tactics and outshooting Bosnia 2-1 and still losing 4-7 says it all. I did my best to work with the Stone City Merchant guy but to no avail. Disheartening is a massive understatement...

Well, it was already in the books but we will make it official by throwing in the towel now. The 19 year-olds can take over tonight...

Disappointed? Sure, of course. The win over Belgium should look pretty sweet there in Holland and the win over Estonia was a surprise. We basically outshot all of the first four teams but, as I have mentioned, the goaltending this season was just shit.

I tried to talk to Stone City Merchants guy (Shootdepuckindanet) but his intro page says he doesn't know English. I really think the Dutch community should talk to him because he has BIG facilities and a team with HUGE potential but the guys just aren't being trained right. The national teams need him...

Other than that, not much to say. Our centers were rubbish and we got hit with two season-ending injuries to defencemen but that certainly wasn't the cause of our troubles. Simply put, the Dutch team OR is 40-60 points lower than all the other teams and, with that kind of discrepancy, you always go in with one hand tied behind your back.

U20 - Prognosis

This will be rather long. It comes to the end of my sixth season in charge which means an end to my second "unofficial contract". Next season is re-negotiation time and we can talk about it then. The most important thing I want to point out here is that a lot of this season's 19 year-old's are better than the 20 year-old's. This is good and bad. Bad for this season since it means the club is fairly retarded. Good in the fact that next season's 18 year-old crop (I scout far into the future...) is large and strong. What this means, to me at least, is clear: the Dutch Senior team is in the process of decline since the glory years guys from years ago are now retiring. The U18 team, conversely, is on the verge of success. We are in the middle and waiting. But that's for next season...

Goal this season is stable but fairly weak. I will remind everyone that five seasons ago, when I joined the Dutch program, there wasn't a goalie. This has gone up and done over the seasons. This season should be a C maybe C+ if we consider depth.

Defence - Left is far better than right. We lost a LOT of 20 year-olds last season despite the fact that they weren't that good to begin with. We're just okay here, again a C-C+. But combined with the average goaltending, we will again surrender quite a few goals.

Wing - Traditionally the best position and this season is nothing different. Solid to good on both sides with depth. B+

Center - Finally we have some guys down the middle. All three of the top guys are 19 but they are mostly very good. We can score now and we can expect high scoring, exciting games, even if we don't win.

As I mentioned last season, the team is overall better. We probably will only put 40 guys on the roster since the depth this season is thin but the 28 man roster at the World's should be solid. The problem we found last season (and this season too, I am sure) is that the opposition, especially at the top of Division II, isn't getting any worse. So a .500 record is probably the best we can shoot for. What really stands out this season though are two less obvious things: Technique on defence and Shooting. Some of the GM's really listened to especially Lillian's boss and put some T on their Defence. That helps a HELL of a lot. But the big difference this season is on shooting. This by far is the best shooting team I have seen here.

Finally, like it or not, the future of the U18/U20/Dutch national teams is the Stone City Merchants club. This guy has TONS of young guys, with decent to good talent and a whole bunch of experience considering the way he plays. His players are beginning to dominate the national teams. I wish he trained his guys a bit better but I cannot tell other people what to do. This is on the other Dutch players to have a chat with ShootthePuckintheNet and encourage him to stay in the game. His team alone, especially with his maxed out training facilities, is enough to move the younger Dutch clubs to Division I.

Promotie naar divisie I is een feit, met gisteren nog 1 wedstrijd te gaan, staand op een tweede plaats, nog tegen Belgie die al nagenoeg zeker was van promotie. Winnen met 2-0 van de zuiderburen. En met het verlies van Oostenrijk geen zorgen over doelsaldo en promotie werd binnengehaald. Na 5 jaar in divisie II mogen we het een niveautje hoger gaan proberen.

Bij U18 helaas niet gelukt om bij de Top 3 te eindigen, maar naar mijn idee hebben we het echt niet slecht gedaan.
Binnenkort alle spelers die ik gescout heb vanaf 15 jaar weer gaan vergelijken voor de selectie van volgend seizoen.

Toch mooi meegedaan, netjes! Hopelijk kan je weer een blik jonge honden opentrekken.
