Hi Everyone
You may not be aware of a change recently made by PPM. The average OR of new teams is a little over 205 rather than the previous 120 to 125 OR average. I thought there must be a mistake so I made an inquire through a 3rd party and found infact there was no error.
2 teams in my division populated with new managers 208 average OR and an average age of 17.0 versus the old 122 OR average and 18.2 to 18.5 average age. Terrible, poorly thought out decision on the devs part IMHO!
Thing is I played PPM from BETA right through the end of season 4 and left in large part because of tanking in the playoffs. Top 2 teams did it in my division I just started in again in season 6 playoffs, terrible frankly!
So here is my issue put simply. I got this team 2 games before the playoffs started for season 6 with the old starting values. I'd be happy to start over again with the new team spawning practices if it was not for 1 thing. I bought pro for I believe 6 months. So I either throw away the money and start over or throw away the money and quit. Either way I'm out the dollars!
Why wouldn't PPM implement this in stages. Say 25 points a season son paying customers aren't adversely affected. I frankly don't understand the managements short sightedness and lack of a fair playing field.
I should also say I realized in the beginning I was building for 3 or 4 seasons minimum in the league I'm presently in. It's the OTR hit from not being able to beat guys who started 3 days ago that has me disgusted. Well I likely still can with some inactives but other wise I might as well have just burned my money as I'm going to get no value to speak of for it.
Disgusted again!!!

They will be some sort of incentives implemented come the end of the season to really make teams want to promote and not stay down in leagues. Sorry about your luck with the OR my friend. At least you got some monsterly sweet Q'd guys

i think this is a frustrating situation where management try to keep players in the game and it's good. But we all got our Goalie down in the beginning season and they give better team to new comers, even if i don't bought credits i feal rob lol. it's like cell phone company that give better contracts to new guys and believe their old consummers will say great i'm happy with your generosity i stay 4 years he get the better deal.
maybe i'm too far lol but it's a forum and stan it's just a game and a great one I,m shure they took a decision to make it better that'S what they do usually

See the problem with your logic is you have to understand that most managers start a team, get thrashed 20-0 for a couple games and stop playing. This is a huge problem since there is a huge turnover. So to try and give a fighting chance to newer managers and try to keep them playing they increased what you start off with.
Don't forget, to you it's a game. But there are people who are trying to make a living off of PPM. And they need managers to want to continue playing.

Hmmm isn't how it works? You buy something and sure enough something better is available the next week or month? I fail to see he logic here. The Cell phone analogy doesn't work even though I understood what you meant.
Ya, a friend of mine started a team. I was shocked to see the starting ORs between 220 and 280.
I've been told they get the average player OR of the league excluding nonames. So if you've promoted from div4 to div3 you'll likely have a weaker team than the new managers who just arrived. I would have hoped they'd do something like (average OR - 15%) or something with a minimum of 180 OR. So that you don't get new arrivals in div2 in a small country like Ireland getting way better players than a new arrival to div4 in Canada...
it cost me a lot in my players investesment, their value drop about 40% in a day, this hurt more then everything else, been working a lot on training but now it'S all gone with new players at 280, but it'S just a game and i still have a lot of fun specially in playoff
The real problem is YOUR "logic" sir. 1st off 208 OR does NOT make you competitive with managers that have been here many seasons. Frankly the 7 in my league are all between 306 and 400 average player OR except 1 at 279. They may lose 12-1 instead of 20 to 1 but the point is moot! Still a trashing regaurdless. What you've done is "sacrificed" PAYING new customers such as myself hoping you get more of the "newbie" managers to pay than folks who do pay you are going to lose. Big mistake frankly!
12 managers were populated in my league recently. 5 are already noname again and the 2 managers with the "new" OR average of 208 have exactly 1 and 2 signins respectfully. LOL If it's an issue about dollars look at what your going to lose.
A few further facts to consider. Canada cycles around all leagues 1 time at the new system using average OR. Now I'm presuming that a new average is created either ongoing or at a date certain such as the start of each season. Average next season might be 248 lets say. So the issue never resolves in favour of old new managers at 122 average OR starting. Out of 100 how many actually understand player developement and facilities? Perhaps 5 in 100 at best of any random newbie class of 100. That means sir that if they don't progress 40 OR point's on average the new crop you fed will themselves have a lower OR a season from now than the second coming of "new OR" managers. In 1 season my regen/training are at 6 and 7 tomorrow and my average improvement is .33 per day. None of the newbies in my league has a single facility above level 2. They will not keep up!
Your decision effectively "garuntees" 1 payment and done for 99% of new customers going forward. Incredibly short sighted on your companies part. You need someone with a strong accounting background who understands "economies of scale" as it relates to running a business IMHO.
This decision effectively limits your growth economically and does not enhance it. Long time paying customers are the single most important revenue source in the sim sports game community IMHO.

Well the thing is most teams should be started up in the IV league. Not in III. So in the IV league their average OR would be lower because the majority of teams who populate III have gone up on their own from the IV. It just so happened that we have an abundance of leagues right now because of people creating an account and then not ever playing again. There shouldn't be 16 sub leagues in III and IV.
So a player makes an account and takes up the next spot which is in III like you did. But now they are getting a league average for player strength. Yes they are behind the ball on facilities and general knowledge of the game. But they at least have something going for them.
But most people who are the ongoing paying players all started back when teams started with low OR players. It's all about building up. So they have a 210 OR with 50 q rating and a level 0 facility. So that player will gain say .06 skill. So you will catch up soon enough.
But increasing the starting strengths just gives a newer manager a little shred of hope to continue playing the game. Yes most are no names already or have only one or two log ins. But guess what? That has been happening since the game started. Most managers continue with the game because they have friends who play, or they ask questions to actually learn the game. Maybe they get hooked. Maybe they don't. It's just a little more to get them to stay.
Yes long time paying customers is what keeps the game afloat (remember hockey is in it's seventh season. The game has been going for 4 years+). But you have to have a little more incentive to make new players stay long term.
