My Observations on the sample match given by tujage
Rebounding!!!! WAY too many. All players had tons of it.
KILL DEVIL HILLS GANG worst player had 6!!! I dont think PGs are able to net that many.
Basset and Bishop were the guards and the ones that had the most rebounding. In contrast, their Center/Pivot had the worst.
Assists!!! All sort of wrong too. Often when a guard does not assist, they score.
Bishop sure scored a lot but ZERO assits
Basset was the second worst scorer, wasnt a good defender and had only 3 assists.
FG%!!! How many shots have you ever made when you started playing basketball? games have often small scoring as players just starting shot pretty bad.
62% on 26 shots!!!!!! that is WOW. Come on!!!! lets have low OR players to shoot BAD. It doesn't matter there is nobody to defend, they cant shoot neither. At least they shouldn't. I was expecting to see more 30% or less shooting.

just look at handball ... game scoring has always been about the same since day one.
Id much rather see a 40x36 match at earlier stages and see the progress than see some monster stats on really crap players.
It sounds like the engine only compares the offensive against defense to get a probability the shot can go in or not. Should also take in consideration the attribute of the shooter.

Will there be game averages included in a players stats? If we are 23 games into the season and it says a player has 359 points and 142 rebounds and 120 assists, that doesn't tell me as much as his game averages. Simple add, just some division, but helpful.
while the shooting percentage sounds much better, there are still a huge number of rebounds and assists

This might sound like a silly thought, but that orange color (in the match reports, here in the forums, and i imagine in the entire basketball product) is absolutely atrocious.
From an aesthetic standpoint, I don't even like looking at it for a few minutes... I can't imagine looking at it every day.

Matches also seem way too tactic heavy for my tastes.
Seriously... switching ALL tactics after every quarter? That's unnecessary. Makes things way too complicated. I'd rather have tactics changes like we have lineup changes in handball. Make it dynamic. If losing by X amount do A tactics...
That would change during the games as basketball tactics do in real life.
As it is I'll make a team for the future benefit of having one... but as it looks now I dont think I'll put too too much time into it.

And I havent even chose my team's name yet... although i am pretty close to.
I think that's pretty much how all the previous sports have worked, comparing players stats against each other. It had more sense in games with goalkeepers though as they were also developing. I can't see baskets turn smaller when teams develop
