In Handball a team gets @ 13.3 mil each for 1st place in league reg season and final placement. Hockey gets 9.1 each. Football gets 24 mil total. Basketball gets 2.7 for each. This is all based on league II. When teams advance to the next league they get a bonus. Keep in mind all teams got about 1.3 per week all season. No advantage in being in a higher league. So getting that bonus is going to give them a monetary advantage over incumbent teams and it could be substantial.
You had the option to join a lower league and this was a factor to think about. I chose Lower league basically because of this and wanting a little challenge.
Everybody couldn't be in the lower league so saying they could have is just not thinking. Also OTR gains in the first seasons aren't that big of deal. League IV 1st place has an OTR of 148.72. My OTR is 152.78 and mine is 4th highest in league II. Big deal on the OTR. The fact is... the money is going to be out of whack. Prize money should be commiserate with the league level. That is what the bonus monies are for. Hopefully they will probably have reduced or no bonuses as well.
Yes if you lose regular season games
What about a playoff game?
I am trailing 0-2 in the series, so I can't win.
I'd like to preserve energy in the 3rd game for next round if there is one.

Does anyone else agree that the SG position is the most inconsistent position in the game? and C & SF are the most consistent? PG posing kind of depends...
You could just build up your medical center... level 2 is atrocious.
That was one of the things I focused on this season in basketball. Injuries are the same durations as other sports. So they make an even more significant impact when they occur.
Add to that how unready SA pulls are to be backups, and it's even more crucial.
Honestly, the medical center is probably one of the most important upgrades in basketball (when judging by value gained per dollar spent).

Are friendlies an extra source of income? Do they have any effect on training? Like if I don't dont schedule one will it slow the growth of my players.
They can be a source of income, ticket sales are split 50/50, but you need to play in bigger arenas to make decent money. A friendly in a maxed stadium can bring in over a million for each team.
Actually playing in games can cause your players to train a bit less because they're tired. This is the only 'problem' with friendlies. But it's not enough to really matter as your players will gain a bit if exp and chemistry. I think I've only seen a handful of managers skip friendlies specifically to help their training.

Can anyone explain how the training program works? I've tried a couple of different things, but I'm still not sure what is going on.
