Real excited to see how much more money I'm going to get from the media sponsor after adding 2750 seats -- going from 250 to 1500 (large standing to mid-way triple) and from 1000 to 2500 (triple min to max).

It takes 100 if you build the 2,500 initially. Or 150 if you build 1,000 then 2,500 or 200 if you build 1,000 then 1,500 then 2,500. You get the idea.

Well then. I would like to thank everyone for their advice. If only this would have taken place last season, before i had wasted money on mid-level stands haha. Ah well, live and learn.
You don't want to know all the mistakes I made. Thankfully when I chose a goalie at random to sell it was my 35 AQ goalie and not Newton who was a franchise-caliber goaltender.
So if I build a 1500 seat triple the amount I pay to upgrade to 2500 seats is the difference? between building the two stands? I am going to build a max triple if I promote... otherwise my cash will be short, trying to decide if i should build a middle size triple or two 1000 seat triples

Two 1000 triples are better than one middle size triple.
Two will let you upgrade quicker, and sooner.
It also allows you to build your additions while upgrading too. You don't need to tear down concessions when adding seats, only when changing stand size.
