on the line-up page, you'll find a circle with a line through it next to anyone who has a suspension. if you hover your mouse over that, it will tell you what type of games and how many the player is suspended for. pretty sure they can play in anything else. i've been using players with a national cup suspension in regular games and friendlies since early last season.

yes, suspensions in league games do not apply to friendly and cup games. Cup game bans do not carry to league. And there is no such thing as a friendly ban.
