Subjek: ChL and CWC

Placements for season V ChL and CWC have been announced. The USA will have 2 participants in each for the first time. We start off as a country ranked 17th with an average coefficient of 8.91. If we move up to the top 10, we'll qualify 6 teams for all comps next season. If we drop below 28th, we'll reduce to only 2 teams total.

ChL:
Mojo - Group 2
Melon - Group 16

CWC:
Rowdies - Group 3
Badel 1983 - Group 4

Top 2 advance from groups of 5 teams.

On first look, I'd say the Rowdies would be projected to finish around 3rd in our group. The good news is that it doesn't look like any of the other 4 teams in Group 3 are world beaters. So every match we should have a puncher's chance. There's a chance to advance top 2...but only a very small one.

Looking at Badel's group very quickly, I'd say they're cooked. With Inglorious Bastards (the 4th best OTR in the world) and strong Swedish team HK Power, the top 2 spots are taken. At best I see Badel hoping for 4th in the group. Plus they're just be promoting to USA I.1, which might take more priority.

I don't know how Mojo and Melon think about their chances, but for the USA's sake I hope they feel pretty good.

I don't feel very good about my chances as I think i could finish 3rd at best. And that is not enough to qualify.

Chances are slim we will finish top 10.

Note: on season 2 we had 2 participants each cause every country had 2.

I wrote about my chances in 1.1 forum. There are clearly top 2 teams in my groups with total strength over 50 and bunch of players with OR over 500.

Qualifying for ChL and CWC is more than just an accomplishment... It's a duty to perform well internationally, aside from what ever intranational plans you had. Deciding that this isn't important and shrugging it off only means that USA's average coefficient will go down. And the repercussions of that equals only 1 team per tournament.

sure ChL is my priority and you know that. But the reality is that 3rd is the highest i would expect to finish. Anything higher would be a high accomplishment.

so i should expect to finish 3rd although i have a small shot to finish higher but at the same time i could finish last too.

In short, although I will try my best I don't expect to qualify.

Yeah thats all Im trying to say is that if one goes into ChL or CWC they need to try their best.

I knew last season it was make it or break it time to see if I could get USA 4 spots for next season. Erratic Emus had a seriously difficult group for ChL and I had a moderately difficult group. Xalthos had 2 god teams and 2 great teams to go against so I figured he would get 4 wins or so if he was good.

I tried to win as many games as possible and I burned a lot of energy to make sure of it. I had 1 great team, 1 really good team, 1 team of the same caliber as me, and 1 relatively dead team. I had to get 3 upsets to make it to playoffs.

The point of this is that I spent 13 points of energy on 10 matches and it paid off quite nicely. Im not asking everyone to exhaust their players for the sake of USA getting a higher ranking, but at least don't play conservatively so give it your all.

Season starts early. With CL games played on day 1.

Hoping to pick up where you left off

My first CWC opponent has goofed out of the gate. He's just starting a training camp with his big guns tonight. Unless he decided to train only 4 days, they'll miss our first matchup. Could be a good start for the Rowdies.

not to come off sounding like a dick, but it's a lot easier to spend energy when you're in a lower division and you could mop through 90% of your league games playing your backups on VL.

In your case, you had absolutely no reason to conserve energy on the international level. Had you done so, I would've wondered wtf you were doing and why you won the National Cup in the first place.

For teams in division I.1 though, it's not just as easy as saying, "you have to play on VH to win international games!"

It's not fair to expect someone to sacrifice their team for a season (or more depending on the collateral damage) for the sake of the country. If they WANT to do it, that's great. But it shouldn't be expected. In my opinion the most we should expect from CWC and CHL participants is that they "try" to win games. IE don't go dead during that season.

But blowing energy shouldn't be a requirement imo.

My big problem is that I say a lot to mean a little, and most of the time my true meaning gets lost.

What I had meant by that was I'm not saying you have to blow energy and waste your season, but I'm just trying to say that everyone should at least put SOME effort into it. A good example of not putting effort would be to "try and win games by playing very low".

And you're right, I did have a lot of energy to spare so I could afford to spend it, but I didn't say that to mean everyone else has to do it too. I said it to make the point that I had put a lot of effort in to it and I hate seeing my effort go down the drain.

Funny thing is, I had meant it to be a patriotic motivational speech. Guess it didn't work too well, eh?
