Looks like this season is going to be another bummer - lucky if we stay in the top 5...
I don't expect to stay where I am at, burned up some important energy by accident against dead teams and the tough teams are starting to come through my schedule. A quarter of the way through, there is more than enough time for lots of movement.
True - in seasons past, there was a lot less mobility at the top because of the I.1 drops dominating the league. So far, neither have been too daunting (not to suggest they're impotent...). But I've been burning energy relatively early to little avail too, and I've been pretty good about predicting my end-of-season placements for the past few seasons after the first quarter of the season.
I am looking to finish somewhere between 12 and 18th... 
Based on team strength and a few well placed underdog wins. If I end up dropping back to III that is ok as well. Not too worried about either outcome.

I'll be dropping a bit as well, no way I'm the 5th best team, top half yes, but not that good.

Well, I have a bit of a confession to make - I don't have the best team in II.4 at all. There are probably six other teams who are better rated than my team, but I guess the biggest reason why I've been able to punch above my weight is the way I've set up my squad (and luck, mostly luck). So even if you don't have the "best" squad, you can still do well if you've got the right set-up.
I will say that competition is going to fierce this season if all of our managers stay active. Anything can still happen at this point.

the way that last game went, makes all those choices look good...
Your defense stood tall, 1 shot on goal and 11 shots wide is a poor recipe for success. Add some opportunistic second half goals and a solid 3 points for your team.

That's two games now that I've lost trying to conserve energy and build chemistry for new players and subs.

The good news is I've had 16 different players score a goal. The bad news is my 4th highest scorer has 3 goals in 4 games.
