So for those who were counting.... to answer the question, which team's academy produced the most number of players in the above Top 50 U20 players (by OR)?

We're about to tell you....

.... drum roll......

.. The winner is.....

1st: [soccer_team=36519] produced 10 players! (20%)
2nd: [soccer_team=10] produced 9 players.
=3rd: [soccer_team=36516] produced 7 players.
=3rd: [soccer_team=65294] produced 7 players.
5th: [soccer_team=36520] produced 6 players.
6th: [soccer_team=53051] produced 4 players.
=7th: [soccer_team=80627] produced 2 players.
=7th: [soccer_team=4] produced 2 players.
=7th: [soccer_team=14] produced 2 players.
10th: [soccer_team=36513] produced 1 players.

.. So 78% of players come from the academy of just 5 teams. Shows the importance of some of these teams in our small Aussie league.

No U20 friendly tonight as Montenegro U20 still haven't accepted my challenge. Which means next friendly the remainder of the squad will get a run and we will have ratings for all members of the u20 squad.

Evening All

We've now got ratings for the U20 players and have pretty much settled on a team to take us forward into qualifying which starts in 3 weeks time (not a large pool of players so pretty clear-cut in selection).

Since the last update I've added another 9 players to the U20 squad to make the full 35 players (congrats). It is a young side, which will be good for next season as we attempt to make the finals.

Number of 20 year olds = 9
Number of 19 year olds = 17
Number of 18 year olds = 9

Our weakest positions this season will probably up-front with the strikers, as well as some weakness in the defenders. (Pretty much the same as the real Socceroos!!!

I expect we will be more competitive next season, so this season will be about surviving in tact, to challenge next.

Friendlies results so far: 2 losses and 1 draw. The next 3 friendlies are Poland and Israel U20, followed by Chile U17 (in the round we have a qualifier bye - only 7 teams in our group).

Not much new exciting news to report in U20 soccer whilst we go through the friendlies... I've been a bit hectic in the PPM with starting up basketball team, handball, hockey play-offs... but I'm now out of soccer Cup Winners Cup and National Cup, so ready for U20!

Evening all

Well this weekend starts the beginning of the World Cup Qualifiers for most teams, however for Australia U20 we have a bye (and are playing Chile U17 in a friendly).

But an extraordinary friendly game was played last weekend - Australia U20 vs Israel U20...Australia U20 won!.... 5 goals to 4!! 9 goals in a match!

3 goals to our star forward Daniel Roberts (a TrueBlue player who is unfortunately suspended for the first two matches of qualifiers from last season naughtiness... I hope the bye counts as one - we are going to miss our highest OR and best player in the first two matches!).

Our first qualifier match will be against Scotland U20 Saturday week - pretty even contest so a win is vital!

This week a good 1-0 win for Australia U20 over Saudi Arabia....after last week's very unlucky loss 0-1 to Scotland. The last two matches we have been without our top centre midfielders, which has had a big inpact! Our best player was suspended for two matches and our others midfielder injured for the last two matches! Looking forward to having them back next week vs Bulgaria!

yeah, the last match was just perfect, clearly better team. Scotland was a tougher to compare, I reckon. I just wonder, if attack through wings only could made any visible difference in the previous match (to twist around final result, I meant)?

I had that tactic down L & R against Scotland as was missing my central midfielders thru injury and suspension.

I thought that have had a pretty good reason for it, just could not figure out why

And news just in, after a two week suspension, our best player centre midfielder "Scott McGrath" is now injured for 9 days so he's out for a third consecutive match.

Last weekend game the U20's team struggled without a single shot on target, to 7 by Bulgaria... in the end 2-0 loss was not as bad as it could have been.

This weekend the team is in high spirits with our star player coming back in the midfield. Amazing that for a whole season there are only 6 qualifying games... and we've half-way through and only now got our full compliment of players.

We're up against a stronger team from Sweden but have hopes for a draw or win!
