Just found out the setup. I guess I am a little slow...
The games against teams from your group are carried over into the standings. Thus a loss and OTW carried over. We now face the other 3 teams in the group we have not played (Russia, Spain, Slovakia). From there the top 4 teams will advance to the single-game knockout stage. We are currently in last in the division so will need a strong showing. However, 2nd through 5th have 3 points and some teams even have worse GD than us. So two wins should easily help us through to the next stage, if not a Win and an OT result.

Two wins of any sort promise a berth into the queaters. An OT loss and we are leaving the fate to other games.
Hungary and Germany both played HIGH to the opponents Normal and lost.
Hungary got burned on Tactics but Germany had theirs right.

just a question there probably a good reason for this but why are we playing a 286 goalie instead of our 370 odd goalie I understand that experience may play a part and how the stats are spread. But still why?
Alot of it comes down to Experience, as I learned in the playoffs. My younger, inexperienced goalie who was slightly better in attributes wasn't as good as my other goalie who had more experience under his belt.
Although it lists 1 team as Home and 1 Away is there actually a HOME advantage in the World Championships?
Actually I just noticed we are 2nd
Russia 3rd, Spain 4th. all with 6 points
Slovakia are Guaranteed through, maybe they will play low against us to reserve energy for semis?

Dude, we might be in!
It is highly likely that we are in.
In order to stay top 4, we need to win, or, any two of the 4 teams bellow us have to lose.
That guarantees at least 2 of them will remain lower than us in the standings (making us top 4). **minor detail I am leaving out
We are playing Slovakia, and I would say we would never win, but lately we have been destroying the odds. However, assuming we lose we have a very good chance to make it.
Those 4 teams below us... ALL play eachother..
Germany vs. Spain
Hungary vs. Russia
That means 2 of them have to lose.
** the minor detail is, if spain or russia lose in OT, then they get 1 point and go ahead of us.
*** the other minor detail is, if we lose by A LOT and hungary & germany win only by a little... that will give Spain & russia better Goal Differentials than us and we will also lose that way. This is very unlikely though.
The point is, we have a lot of ways we can be top 4 boys & girls
