Well comparing me and HC's facilities and arena using only the information of he only got 2 minor loans. He started Season 1 day 1 i started season 2 day 64 a 176 day difference which enough time for any upgrade but the last one twice. My TF is one higher than his and going to be 2 higher than his 31 days before his upgrades. My regen is 2 higher, HR 1 better, maint, medical and education is 1 worse than his, and my SA is 1 higher. My arena is also slightly bigger but only by 100 seats as of tomorrow.
So he's got me by a season and a half without big loans and i got him in all facilities but the 3 minor ones. Granted this is only comparing facilities not players bought sold or whatever.

loans is a tricky subject... i dabled with it earlier but prefer not to really get caught up in it. if you are playing catch up, aka you started later and not in season 1, it might make sense to get a small boost to push for a promotion. in the long run, i guess it will depend on if you are successful or not with the money spent from your loan

Loans are great if you take them to upgrade facilities or stadium. I always take the maximum loan and it has not caused me any problems.

I think it's quite foolish not to use loans in this game because of the very timing factor darksidebarji outlined.

Also, how does my team play better when I play on a lower energy level against a better opponent? Not my season.

i had a 6 page paper on the Republic by Plato the week previous...except I could only use the first two books of it

So after a bit of number crunching, i've first determined DSB is a cheapskate on the marketplace haha. I've only had about 40ish million more in profits from my market dabbling (although its like 150 mil I've spent which is wow) which only equates to one upgrade at the top level. Assume two for one up on each other facility gives us the relatively same position. Comparing our teams shows a slight advantage to myself, although it is quite marginal so I suppose it is possible to catch up, although he was only a season behind. If you take perhaps GRG as an example, the gap in teams is quite apparent and he started in season 4 and frankly, it seems that the gap is not close to being closed

I totally admit i'm a cheapskate when it comes to buying players i haven't bought a single player since season 4 and i've only bought 14 players total. While i've sold 42 guys, so bought guys 3.65 mil sold guys 37.4 mil. My team is basically relying on my SA to pump out decent guys to compete, but i'm lagging in the aspect of 176 days of training so i should be buying more guys to upgrade my team but i put a higher priority on facilities to start or else extra guys mean nothing if they dont train well.

It probably isnt a terrible thing. It's also interesting to see how the two different approaches got us to where we are now

I bid low on all sorts of great prospects all the time, I never get them but I actively search them out and drop a bit as a just in case.
