The shock being three from three and also putting Australia into the top 50 with that France (33) win making us going to 47th.

But do you want to go for a bid to host the World Cup

Following the departure of Matt who did a great job for us last season, I am now the U17 manager again. If anyone has any great young player they think I should know about, let me know here or by PM. As a rough guide, they should either have primary skills at least around the 140 mark with proportional secondaries or be young players with sensational qualities around 80+ for primaries and key secondaries.

After an interrupted preparation, the Joeys (U17) had their first hitout last night going down 2-0 to a disciplined Romanian side who are ranked in the top 10.

More important was the chance to see some of the new players in the squad have a run so we can work out our best combinations. Overall the side isn't quite as strong as last year although the centre midfield is better which is crucial. There also appears to be reasonable depth which I'm pleased with.

If anyone has any youngsters they think are worth a run, send me their details.

Also, if anyone has ambitions to be U17 coach next season, let me know. I'm interested in having an assistant.

The win sees us leapfrog Russia into 4th spot in our group so, for the time being, we're still dreaming about qualifying for the World Cup

We did it without our best player Balson, who was suspended, and another first choice player Fitzgerald, who was injured, but luckily we had enough depth to cover both positions.

We scored all our goals in the first half, which gave us the luxury of dropping the intensity a bit in the second half and conserving energy for future matches.

Next week we travel to Chinese Taipei who managed to upset France away this week so it will be tough but I think winnable.
