Moldova rolled-over! That's the headline on the lads locker room today after a great 2-1 victory that saw Australia win their second straight game.
Rolling normal importance, increasing to high in the second half, our guys were simply too good for the Moldova squad rolling 2 halves of low importance.
Alex Mugridge picked up his first National Team goal in the 13th minute of the first half, overpowering the Moldova keeper with an incredible strike. Billington added the second goal at the 59th. Our stellar defense, led by Taylor Bulger and Corey Beavan held off the Moldova strikers to secure the victory.
In Goal
Colton Charles split the game with Dylan Hamilton once again. Charles was tested early and dropped his guard to let in the first goal of the game in the 11th minute. His first half stats show 4 shot on target and 4 wide. He also kept out 2 corner kicks.
Hamilton, who has been solid so far this season, came in for the second half and played like a man posessed. Moldova looked really good and tried putting great shots on Hamilton but our defense kept 100% of them off net, so Hamilton played the full 45 minutes with 0 shots on target and 3 wide.
Next week Charles will take a seat and let Xavier back in the lineup for a look in. Hamilton will start, a role that he has earned after weeks of incredible performances.
Stand Out Players
Kane Billington is the #1 standout player of the game. He steps up his game and used his only shot on target to the teams advantage. He has showed that he's more than a supportive forward to Doherty.
Alex Mugridge netted his first goal on the National Team. This is especially impressive as he's yet to play a league game this season. He shows talent and skill, so may stay up on the squad.
Eric Burke is proving to be a premier center midfielder and once again was integral to our victory.
Next Game
Japan are our next opponent, and we're going to need to bring our A-Game if we plan to defeat them. They have far better goalkeeping than us which is where they have the advantage. Saying that, if Doherty and Billington can be on their game, I believe we can crack their team. There will be a few changes made on the team with regards to the lineup, and maybe a few tweaks to the tactic.

Do wins in friendlies increase exp or chem more than losses?
Just wondering what the point of rolling higher than vlow importance in a friendly ever is.

Your doing a good job TB.
Im disappointed with Coltons performances. He hasnt been playing well all season. I would bench for a while and give Hamilton the majority of starts, Nicholson could back him up.
Whats your view on Doherty - does he need some additional speed?

Why should he keep fitness? What reason?
If we dont collect ranking point we will be in the last hat in the group lottery for WC. What is better? Last hat or keep fitness for nothing?
