He had enough time to start the 2 camps during this season, but obviously the second one would move over to the next season, and he would lose important first games of the season. It's his choice, but I wouldn't do that once I was 1 game away from the finals. This is why you should always run at least 1 camp during the season.

But honestly, I had maybe a puncher's chance at beating Mojo and no shot at beating Erratic in the finals. I gave myself two games to get past Mojo and didn't get it done. I'm taking the camps and moving to s4.

Similarly just past halfway through the season, I suggested the 10-12 teams should start planning for the relegation playoffs and relegation series as I didn't think they could make up ground on the top 8. Hindsight, none of them did. Bulls and a couple others thought I was not evaluating the relative team strengths accurately. It's the way I'm approaching the game. Take the shots if you have a good chance or no better options. Same mindset was at play in deciding on camps without digging into next season's first few games.

Yea Kytihu I was talking about the tanking penalty. I would never question your coaching skills, I learn from them. I do the same thing with looking at the whole season. I spent the energy early so I could make it to the playoff's and run a camp in the second half. Next season I will do as I always do and decide after 12 games where I want to end up in the rankings and push/maintain it. This year it was 6-8th as I knew I did not have the team to finish higher in the standings but I wanted the extra 6M in bonus money for my s4 budget and certain teams were losing games due to intensity. Opportunity was there so I took it.

Just that IMO 1 or 3 playoffs matches (one against mojo and likely 2 in the finals) are way more important than 2 league games and maybe one Champions League (if you had won D1)

energy at this point makes no difference if you win or lose. (in case of comparing to spend or tank)

I sure think Emus is currently the best team but anyone at any given time can beat by using the right tactics. I lost both matches, but if you look he used the perfect tactics in both and i picked the worst in both. Have tactics been inverted the results could be different.

I agree, seems to me that playoff teams are pretty even, tactics or a bit of luck can be the deciding factor.

I'm still happy with how I handled the regular season. I basically competed during the third quarter and started playing very low and running camps during most of the fourth quarter. Although by playing hard earlier in the season, I lost more energy for the games later on, the higher game importance had more effect in the third quarter when most teams were conserving energy than in the fourth quarter when teams were starting to concede some energy to get a good position for the postseason, and I entered the playoffs having played about as many high importance games as I would have played while using a normal strategy. While I didn't make the playoffs, I probably did manage to get an additional 2-4 points for the relegation round (I went from last place among active teams to comfortably in 11th place), which will probably make the difference if I hold onto the third spot. My goaltenders (I sold the player that started for the first 26 games and split the remainder between the other two) and half of my team also entered the postseason with very good energy. I still think that the higher team strengh and resulting increased probability of winning would be slight and outweighed by by the risk of losing the 2-4 points to start out.

But for the handicap given to the better relegation teams (intended to provide a disincentive for throwing the season to conserve energy for the postseason), I probably would have given more consideration to playing out the season on very low.

I like my 16 year old goalie better than Wilson. Wilson is slightly better than my backup, but the upgrade would not be worth $10 million. In any case, I'm content with my roster for at least a few seasons.
