As in Stanley Cup Final?!?!?!

yah... why not? how will it be determined who meets in the 3rd round? couldn't we see one of the champions from one of the eastern conferences playing one of the champions from one of the western conferences in the third round? leaving the door open for a west vs west or east vs east final?

First two rounds you're playing teams from within your conference, if you win your conference, who's next? There won't be a western/eastern conference, so which conference champs play eachother in the 3rd round? Of course I could be way off here....its early.

I wonder if it would be round-robin, home-and-home with each team... top-2 play in final or if they'd use the overall standings to determine 1st through 4th in the semi-final.

Example, Vancouver wins their conference, Chicago wins their conference. Teams are reseeded for the semi-final round, chicago ends up against team X from one of the eastern conferences, vancouver ends up against team y, they both win. Chicago vs Van final.

in the article it states they're still going to be discussing how the seeding would work for the third round, so its all speculation at this point really.

the way its stated right now though, leaves the door open for some intriguing finals

I like the idea that I heard they threw out there for the 3rd round of all the conference winners are re seeded by point total then 1v4 2v3 and winners play for the cup. Canucks/Hawk final would be epic. I wish there was a way for there to be a Canucks/Flames, or Leafs/Canadiens finals, but the travel at this point is way better and I am liking that.

I feel like for the third round of playoffs, i.e. the Conference champions round, they will go 1st vs 4th, 2nd vs 3rd in order of regular season points, so like Biznow stated, you could have a Chicago/Vancouver Final, or a Rangers/Boston final, etc., depending on how good those teams did in the regular season.

That way seems the most logical to me, either that or you rotate which conferences play the other in the Conference championships, much like the CIS does with Football with the Uteck Bowl and the Mitchell bowl.

If you use photoshop just place it on a bottom layer. Paint over it then delete to save the final image.

What a crazy Flames game tonight, take a 7-4 lead with a minute to go and only win 7-6. Kiprusoff completely thought the game was over already and was having his post-game smoke.

Actually I shouldn't make that joke anymore about our goalie, he quit smoking 18 months ago, his kid was asking him about it.
