Level II vs Level III wouldn't make a significant difference? And now, with the addition of Level IV in USA, would that push up the values in II and III?

Careful with your use of language. Level is generally used for facilities while division and league are used for I.1 vs. IV.6 for example. But yes, having a fourth *division* should increase your sponsor offers in comparison to having only three divisions.

I played a game today and noticed that the line I wanted to use wasn't used. I only use one "default line" but noticed that the goalie and several players were playing while the ones I wanted (and on my default line) were not used. What would cause that?

Also wanted to ask for a Defenseman, in everyone's opinion, how important is technique? I read in the guide that it's passing and aggressiveness but have read that technique should be considered just as important.

Also wanted to add that it's laziness is why the schedules are done but I don't have a Pro pack in soccer and realized that auto scheduling isn't available for the non-Pro pack teams, which might be the reason some aren't and others are.

If you don't have a full lineup, then you will use an automatically generated random lineup. The same thing happens if you have a full lineup and a player gets injured without there being an available substitute under scratches. Though this isn't likely the case, if you are running a camp, the players in the camp are effectively injured in terms of the lineup.

If you created a different lineup, perhaps you forgot to set it up under planning so that that lineup would be used.

The only other explanation I could think of would be that there is a bug (though this isn't likely the case either).

I personally like to train my defensemen to have technique greater than or equal to (though some people think it's better to be slightly greater) its aggressiveness. It helps to decrease penalties, and I have generally received fewer penalties than most teams. Even so, there sometimes doesn't seem to be that great of a difference if you actually compare the stats for the two types. Even if there is a difference, perhaps the additional OR used on the more important areas would outweigh the cost of a few more penalties. I would suggest that you scout a few of the best defensemen (however you want to determine which is the best - stats/OR/etc.) and decide based on what you find.

Yeah, I asked a Obryanjt and was told because my backup goalie was injured it defaulted to all my garbage players, to teach me a lesson or something. LOL

I typically don't have problems with penalties and have plenty of D-men with aggressive higher than technique. Well right now, being that I'm new, I'm buying my team with the stats as close to 2-1-1 as I can get them. Once I get the training facility and regen facility up to speed I will start training better and can start to customize them to at least 2-1-1-1 if reasonable (amount of time to get them up and running v getting ready to retire). LOL

Agreed with capa. Aggressiveness is a more important stat than technique imo, only because it is utilized for breaking up plays, turnovers, and checking, etc. However he is right in the sense that if your technique is much lower than aggressiveness, than your players are more apt to taking bad penalties. Some people view it as a wasted stat, others concentrate on it like they do shooting with D-men. It's really a personal preference and should be monitored based on how your guys play.

Does anyone know how new teams are assigned to leagues? Is it totally random? Does it rotate somehow? Is it based on which teams turned into "noname" teams first?

Promotion and relegation have fixed patterns with 4 leagues promoting into 1 league. IV.5 - IV.8 promote into III.2. And the runnerup from IV.8 will play the 13th place team after the playoffs from III.2.

But for new teams they change the assignment so I'm not sure how it works. As you can see, they put new teams into both III and IV. But they don't put teams into all leagues. So the high-numbered leagues like III.16 have a lot of no-names and no leagues feeding into them, while they add new teams in both the parent and children leagues.

New owner with new team. Is it a good or bad idea for fire the dead wood from your team. I see a few players with awful stats and no chance of development... will it save me more money long term to just fire them... or change their contract to not renew.. and wait till they are out of contract... thanks for the info.

Yes its a good idea. You will save half of the money that you would pay them. Lets say if your player earns 5k per day and has 10 days remaining on a contract, you would pay him 50k. But if you fire him, you will just pay 25k.

Do players skills max out at 99?

You will do better and get more prize money if you do better by firing the bad players and buying very cheap upgrades. Even so, it might take awhile to upgrade your training facilities to the point where you can train any players very well - basically only the best players will stick with the team and it wouldn't be worth investing too much in young players with great qualities right away.

Nope, players max out at 655 per skill.

In football, yes. There is no set limit in hockey.
