We'll see. You have a good team and if you don't care about promoting next season, you may well be as high as you are now since the other strong teams may be saving their energy for the playoffs.

Now a bit of a disclaimer: This is the strength of each team as of the last game of the season. It may not reflect their real strength nor does it reflect the fact that many will be playing 3 lines for the playoffs. Also, please note that the energy level reflected there makes the assumption that the lines are played equally in a 3 or 4 line scenario. I do know that this assumption is wrong in the case of the Cats who have played their 4th line 45% of the time and used his top lines a lot less. So yes, Cats' top lines have a lot more energy than showed here, probably about 25% less energy loss than this.

Let's do some predictions now:

I think the first round playoffs should be fairly straightforward.

Think Tiger vs The Finest: Think Tiger in 3. Finest made it to the playoffs and has a lot of energy available but Think Tiger is very strong this season and should prevail.

Les Bests vs Chapsticks: This will be a tough contest. I'd say Chapsticks will win but it could go either way. They both burned a fair amount of energy and their strengths are similar. Should be a fun one.

Les Explosions vs Magpies: Les Explosions in 2. Explosions has a lot more energy as well as a very experienced strong team. He should win easily.

Icemen vs Cats: And here, for a second season in a row, is where the real contest will happen. Cats has the strongest team in the league and has been saving his top lines' energy all season. Icemen also has a very strong team and has been saving energy all season. It's a bit sad to see two strong teams like this going head to head to start as either one of them would be a strong candidate for promotion. I think the Cats are favorite (Cats in 3) but it will be a tough contest. I just hope that these teams don't tire themselves too much in this first series which could hurt them later. On a personal note, I do wish for the Cats to promote this season, if only to not have another situation like this again next season where the strongest team is lurking middle of the pack coming into the playoffs.
