Dear Friends,

I was thinking long, how can we improve our U17 and U20 NT-s. It is much more tougher than I (and I'm sure many of you as well) expected.

Now I speak only as the U20 manager, but in my opinion the U17 is in a similar situation.

Because we are a smaller community in the universe of PPM in comparison to Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Latvia or even Slovenia. We are momentally the 26th nation in the ranking according the number of clubs. Therefore our resources are limited, because less clubs mean less academies, which mean less players, and unfortunatelly these mean less VALUABLE players.

I think the only way is scouting. What I mean? We should scout almost every week the clubs in lower leagues. Sometimes they get really nice gems, but because they have small training centres, the players can't improve their skills so fast what we require. Once we found a talented youngster (with 6/6 CL, sometimes 5/6 will do, but that player must be really a mustard), we MUST persuade their owners to sell them. And THIS is the most sensitive point!

I completely understand that a manager is very happy when after a long-long waiting he got finally an extra-talented player from his/her academy, and doesn't want to sell him. But we should make his/her clear, that the player will drop there. But if he/she put on the market, he will recieve millions (I think at least 50M, but many times over 100M), what the manager can use to improve the facilities or buy some adult players.

I must tell you, this is not my idea originally. I often read forums of another communities, and I realized that many countries are already doing this.

What do you think, can we, too?

I don't think you should pressure other managers to sell their best players. To persuade them is okay, but that's all.

For many people, myself included, the NT is not important in this game. Everyone should be encouraged to enjoy the game the way they want. If that means wasting a possible NT player then that's just unlucky for the NT.

If I have a great player the you are welcome to use him and to advise me on how to train him. But anyway, there is no chance for that, as my academy is rubbish; I have had no player worth signing in the last eight months (approximately).

I agree. I don't want and of course I can't pressure the others to sell their players. But the other hand: as I wrote above, if You have a talented player, but your facilities are weak, the player will flop, and some seasons later he will an average footballer or worse. If you sell him (especially at the start of the season, and he is 6/6 and 15 yo), you will earn millions, what you can invest either into the development or buy a bit older, but world class player(s).

But this is only a game, so what I mentioned is only an advice, not a commandment.

I'm happy to scout players with my resources as I get well over 100% / day, but I don't really have the time to trawl through teams.

I am also scouting somewhere around the 150% mark and can assist any of the England NT managers with scouting. My training regime is not too bad either, so I'm happy to help by purchasing and training future England stars. ;O)

PS, nice to see some activity on the forums.

I'm trying to upgrade enough to be able to train my youngsters enough to be of use. Still a bit behind though, I do have one guy in the U17 squad though who I hope is doing OK.

We have some good U17 results anyway, not sure if the other teams aren't using their best players or something but that last draw is decent against that nation!
