Very true. In the 3rd period between Finland and Austria, with 5 minutes remaining, it was 2-2. If it went to OT and Finland would have won, we would have taken 5 points out of 6 to the qualifying round. Instead, Austria won this game and we only carried 2 points over (BTW, I really dislike this system of only counting the points against teams that moved forward... some teams with very poor records end up better because they don't lose points in the recalculations while some lose a lot).

But so is the system and we have to deal with it. In hindsight, I made a mistake taking the foot off the pedal against Slovakia.

We'll give everything in the next two matchups.

The team came through today. A 6-2 win against France puts us right back in the middle of it.

We now control our destiny. A win against Sweden tomorrow will send us to the playoffs. A loss and we're out.

It's simple. Let's get the job done!

A 4-0 win against Sweden brings us to the playoffs.

We will now have a top 8 finish minimum and that is a success.

The way things played out, we finished 2nd in our group and will benefit from home ice for the next game against Russia.

This small advantage is very welcome against this strong team. We hope for another good showing tomorrow.

A big win against Russia! It was a really tight game, but we were able to come out on top. We are assured a top 4 finish, which is an amazing result, no matter what.

I feel lucky to have had such great results in the last few seasons.

I am the luckiest GM alive.

After getting destroyed for two straight periods by France, our change of tactic paid dividends and we came back with 4 straight goals in the 3rd to launch us to our 2nd straight gold medal game. Let's hope that results of this final game favor us this time around.

Regardless of the next game though, we will finish top 2 and medal once more.

Thanks to our two 2nd place finishes of the last two seasons, we now hold the 3rd rank in the world for U18s. This should allow for a favorable grouping next season where, hopefully, we will still be competitive.

A forfeit by Estonia U18 doesn't do much for our team chemistry.

Humm yeah that sucks... Will have to try to be careful about the experience of GMs next time before accepting a game at the beginning of the new season.

It can be difficult. Often, a lot of the top team's schedules are on their way to being filled no matter how fast/soon you get on the site. I hate games against the lower teams for just that reason!

Very true. It is crazy fast. Maybe because of the timing of the elections happening in a time slot that is more beneficial to Europeans?

Still should be a good player down the road, but I will have some painful days of training shot with low training output instead of one of his other 3 attributes with 1.9+ per day.

Have you given any thought to just training the big three, minimizing the shot, and putting him on a line with top scorers? Every assist he gets means a score.
