Simple question. Can't find the answer here. Sorry, it has been asked too many times already :

Is there any transfer fee for not selling a player on the market with a high starting price ? Let say I ask 10M$ for someone and he doesn't get any bid, do I have to pay the transfer fee ?

I have a question about staff, im still a little fuzzy about them. I know that having their two stats far apart makes them more expensive. But is it worth trying to train the secondary to a similar level, especially if it has a much lower quality? Or is the difference in salary minimal, and therefore better to just train one?

Example would be: Is it better to have 2 coaches with both stats at 50 (and therefore cheaper salary)? Or to have one coach at 75-25, the second at 25-75, with both having high salary?

In regards to this, I should point out that I do not currently have money issues, just want to hear opinions. More of a plan for the future thing, as I can see how staff salary could cause problems down the road

If you need both attributes, it's better to train them evenly. The lopsided staff would be for Managers (don't need scouting if your HR is high enough) and Sporting Directors (don't need Player Training outside of camps).

I'm not sure about Custodians, but Coaches, Physios and Physicians should be even.

Lecturers should be shot.

Salary is calculated by:

Constant * (Atty1^3 + Atty2^3) where Constant = 0.1 in I.1, 0.095 in II.X, 0.09 in III.X etc.

Thus a player who is 60/60 in I.1 will cost 43,200/day which is $360 per OR point. On the other hand, a staff member who is 70/50 will cost 46,800/day or $390 per OR point. Lastly, a staff member who is 60/10 will cost 21,700/day or $310 per OR point.

So, while balancing the attributes is the cheapest for a given OR (ie. 60/60 is the most economical build for 120 OR staff), in terms of effectiveness for your dollar you certainly want to deviate from that. Consider the last example, 60/10, versus the first one, 60/60. If you only need the one attribute you're more than doubling your daily expenses while only gaining something in the attribute you don't need.

So what your saying is to have 2 coaches/physio/physicians and train them evenly. But for managers just have one heavy on marketing, and one SD heavy on the youth (unless i want to start camp)? If i dont need a manager on scouting, is there any advantage to have 2 both heavy on marketing? Or do they only take the head into account?

The head is 60% of influence and the assistant is 40%.

So if you have a head that is Atty1:100/Atty2:10, Assistant that is 50/10, your overall influence is (100*.6+10*.6)/(50*.6+10*.4) = 80/10

So the assistant does help, but not as much as the head, but it is still significant.

Without an assistant the highest you can get is 60 in each attribute.

He means that the head counts for 60% of the influence. So if you had a 100/100 coach, but no assistant, you'd technically only have 60/60 coaching.

All you need to know is that 60% is from the head coach and 40% is from the assistant coach.

Yep. You only need certain types of staff for a few days/weeks right now. But you do need two of each as Josh and Chad have explained.

I, and several other managers (including Canucks357), have dropped the Lecturers long ago. You're basically paying them to make your staff better. Which will only cost more money.

You don't need extra scouting when your HR is providing most of the scouting. And you really only need Marketing for sponsor offers at the end of the season. So a lot of people are buying Managers late in the season, and firing/selling them once the new season starts. But it's getting expensive to buy those managers late in the season as more players figure this out. So I'm either sticking with the guys I bought this season or I'll buy them a bit earlier next season.

The SDs Player Training is only needed during camps. Good ones allow more players to go to camp and provide a nice boost to in camp training. So I'm running two camps at the end of this season, and two at the beginning of next. Then I can go almost two full seasons without paying for a Player training SD.

I like the SD idea, though, I find it hard to warrant going 4 weeks straight considering that's at least 1 week of playoffs and 6 league games. That's a lot of losses to swallow. However, I have a TC going right now *and* given I'm sending my prospect/long-term guys I am fielding a 3-line team of vets (minus third line D) so no harm there.
