I've been thinking about this when watching games: Fighting majors should be implemented in some real, meaningful way. There are fights in the text, but they're a no show statistically.
Another market suggestion:
If someone has not bid on a player before it's "original" deadline time, they should not be allowed to bid after time has been extended due to a bid in the last minute.
If they did not have interest in the player before 1 minute before the deadline, they should not be able to swoop in during "extended time" and gobble the player up.
We already have a list of the bid history, so that is the building block to start it from programatically.

i've played a couple of games where the "pro" users got to set a maximum bid and walk away. everytime someone bid below your maximum it just raised your current cost. as long as the final price was at or below your max, you won the bid. that would be a great feature here, and would be an incentive to get pro, but not create outrageously costly bidding.
SocC...i like your idea of no bidding in the last minute for those who have not bid previously. coding it might be tough. but i like it.

Actually to clarify, it would restrict people from bidding for the first time after the initial deadline.
I kind of muddied up my point with too many words.

Going to have to politely disagree on this point. The whole reason, I and many others wait until the last minute to make a bid is to not pump up the price of a player. Anyone that is serious about obtaining a player should be there at the last minute to ensure that their bid wins.
More importantly, most of us little guys don't have money to place bids on multiple players. Many times I will jump to another player at the last minute because someone went above my price on another player I was *more* interested in.

I understand SocC's point, since it is generally extremely annoying to have someone swoop in within the last 10 seconds, but I tend to agree with Dark Addiction on this one.
Last minute is one thing, my problem is that you are jumping in "after" the last minute. I can understand jumping in before the original ending time, but why are those people already bidding now having to deal with people that show up after that player should already be done?
Anyone "that serious" about obtaining a player should have a bid in before the original deadline. Do note that the "last minute" can end up being 10 more minutes because of the extra minute that is added if there is a bid in the last minute.

We have to ask, "what is the reason for the extra minute being added?"
I believe the reason is so that someone who has bid on the player will not have no time left when someone bids with 2 seconds remaining to make a counterbid. I don't think the intent is to let even more people begin bidding on the player.

Well its also there if you are bidding on multiple players at the same time and to ensure you can get bids in if refreshes are slow. I have no issue with the current system. Yeah its annoying sometimes, but its also fun in a sick sort of way.
If you put the "no new after the original deadline then you have tons of bids before the deadline that jack up the price within seconds.
Yeah changing the deadline won't solve anything, it will just change when people jump in.
Only if they are paying attention like they are supposed to be. If they were not paying attention at the original deadline, why should they get the benefits of it being extended?
But thats just it, who says they are not paying attention? Personally I won't bid until the last minute so as not to cause a run up on the price of a player. Its a strategy, not laziness.
