I'm just curious to know, but has anyone had any luck with finding high quality draft picks yet?

Overall or this round?

Just in this round. Curious if it's loaded with D class players or if my luck has just been that good so far.

Hmmm... okay. Still have a couple of weeks to luck out anyway.

Do not waste your time with the draft, also until your academy is top notch do not waste your time there either. I got an A+ player and that player was useless compared to my lineup. Not sure if the player you get has any relation to your facilities but for now I just do not waste my time with the draft.

Ah Posse, I remember them, 2 seasons ago I destroyed them when we both were in the same tier 4 division. Just took a look at them now, they are MUCH better than before so yeah, just go LOW energy on them and get ready for round 2.

RockinRol tough loss against TheBeers in game one, they are a good team who might (or probably will) beat me (hence why I am glad I got Atlanta). Either way I figure unless you got some surprises it will be TheBeers or myself taking this division unless we are smart (or unless Kenora actually wants it all this year), lol (oh and yes I know Printemps is the second best team in the division after Kenora, but assuming TheBeers wins and everyone else top tier wins it should be Printemps and Kenora in the semi meaning TheBeers and Cliffstone are the undercard, lol

Yeah. I noticed that players from the sports academy come out pretty low in stats. When I played a few years ago, I thought they were somewhat comparable to the players you start with. Almost seems like the game is gently nudging you towards using the market since I can't see the rookies from the academy covering the 300 point difference in stats within the three years they have to match the current age of my roster.

I've been raising players from drafts and academies from the beginning and only add a few players here and there. My next crop of 15 yr olds will be far advanced past the players I have when they reach the same age.

I'm thinking it'll be The Beers vs Cliffstone next round! Lol Ah well... I'm a season or three away from making a push for first anyways..

Once you get training facility up to level 15 (see Kenora for an example) then I figure it might be worth it to get the draft players but until then the only worth is to keep the good ones out of the hands of Kenora (and anyone else who has a level 15 training facility). Even then not sure it is worth it but right now that is the only reason I would ever try to get a draft player at the moment.

Took a look at tier 2, of the 16 teams being relegated to our tier, 8 are bots, with tier 2.1 (where black metal went last season) having 4 bots coming down

I don't know if I agree with that. I have 4 players over 1000 aged between 21 and 23. My 15-18 yr olds will be there far faster than they were. I keep anyone over a 75 avg that has high quality in the appropriate skills for their position.

Considering the players that I see guys in our league buying are in the 1200+ range for 26-31 year olds, I feel I can produce the same results for a lot less money, which I have been putting towards my arena.

It's the same old argument, I guess. Rent players now and continue in the renting cycle as you lose those players each season and have faster results or build a solid program and take a little longer but also build the Canadian National program because you're developing your own talent instead of taking the players that can't stick with their original team.

Yeah. I get that argument and see both sides of it. I'd be willing to go and grab some upgraded talent, but I'd like to put more into building up my facilities. I certainly want some more players so that I can cover any rash of injuries that might occur. Draft picks and academy grads aren't gonna be able to fill those holes effectively right now.
