Technique. One thing is to keep your technique higher than your agressiveness (or as high) to keep penalties down, but I believe it is also about having higher technique than the opposing player. Intensity level plays a big part too. If you ask your team to play games at 5*, they will take way more penalties than if they play at 1*.

my team takes a lot of penalties too, but I don't really mind it. I mean, as Brian Burke like to say, you got to have turbulence if your wanna win. So nothing wrong with a gritty team that plays with an edge.

well it does matter when you lose a game 2-1 and that both goal against you were score on PP. I got a good team but i'm second to the last in number of power play given. 17 of the 39 goal I gave were score on PP, it's half of them. I lost one game directly because of that and had to go in OT twice because of PP goal. With those 5 point I would currently stand exactly were I think my team should be.

ARGGGGG I hate it , once again I lose because of penalities... 3 goal out of 5 were score on power play .... What can I do?

Train technique more, buy some players who already have high technique, play with less intensity, and don't train aggressiveness too much higher than technique.

What about man...the don't relly need technique... for the other i'll train more on tech

Defencemen? The less tech to agr they have the more penalties they'll take. It's a balancing act.

I don't think intensity has an effect on penalties.

I wasn't sure about it either, just going by what Samuel Carrier posted earlier.

My game yesterday I played H/N, my opponent played VL entire game. 5 penalties each.

Think about it this way, if intensity lead to more penalties, when teams both play VH in playoffs, the entire game would be played with power plays going. It doesn't happen like that.

I would say that falco00 needs a lot more technique, especially on Dmen. 6 of his 9 penalties last game were from Dmen.

Dmen need technique. I'd say go for 75-80% of secondary atty. That's what I do and I don't have a disproportionate amount of penalties for my Dmen.

There are other factors influencing penalties. If it was only intensity, then I could see your point. But there are so many other factors... including some randomness.

Intensity does bring more penalties, and it makes a ton of sense. If one team plays the game at very low, the players are not bound to take a ton of penalties.

Being outplayed is also a factor in taking penalties. If you don't play intense but the other team is playing around you like mad, you're bound to take penalties. But if your team is stronger than the other team and also playing a low intensity, odds are that you won't have as many penalties as if you use higher intensity.
