Being one who is just trying to get to I.I for the first time, and having a bunch of pensioners, I might have been tempted to let him go and buy a whole line with the future in mind. Conundrum! Wrestling with the options may be cause for buying "Sleepeeze"!!

Pensioners is my formula also while waiting for my youngsters to develop. Hope to see you in I.1 next year (if all goes well for you and me).
At least he is a UFA-I so you'll get three years out of him. I'll be selling some of my veterans at the end of the season, likely can be had cheap.

2700+ OR, 2/6, 29 and a Defenseman. Those will get 100+mil bids every time. At least he’s not 33. I got a similar bid for my 33 year old d last season. It’s brutal.
But where do these people find all that money?! The most I've had saved up at one time was like 200M, and it drained fast!
Idk, but I watched Garfield HC just pay 150M for a 15 year old prospect. And I have seen him throw 100s to young players for a while now. So apparently some GMs have that kind of money regularly.
I think a lot of teams probably same up to that at some point and bid on free agents. There’s just a lot that do, so a few teams are tossing bids like that out regularly. If I didn’t have so many UFA’s, I could buy several players for 100 mil a season too.
I've never had anywhere near that kind of money, which is why this tortoise is taking the slow and steady route to the top. Budget, budget, budget, and keep the juniors coming so that when a UFA gets too expensive, there is someone to take his place. One step backwards and two steps forward seems preferable to total rebuilds.
Interesting since I have the 7th highest OR player in the world and I don't recall him getting offered that much.
