why does scouting for draft picks players plays their positions but their height doesnt seem to meet the position so what gives?
I drafted an A+ smallforward prospect with 160cm+ height, now he is 19yo and 179cm tall. Can't let him play as sf. :/
I'm sorry to come here so late. But since nobody has told you anything about it. I wanted to let some of the knowledge I have about this situation.
Draft picks are not in their final height.
They tend to grow according to some random rule, which I still don't know.
I think there are two things that take part: a basic level for the player and the training they get. I don't know if training Jumping makes them grow taller, but usually those players who had more Jumping have grown taller. The measurement I have is between 15-25 cms for the players. I've seen some grow 13 cm, 15 cm, 19 cm, even 24 cm. The difference is what I said before, their position.
This is a great thing to pay attention to when drafting players or picking the academy players. Because if they don't grow more than 25 cm, for example, how would you train a player with 170 cm to become a Center? you need him to grow 35 cm to actually become a regular Center. They won't reach.
Try to make a measurement on how much they grow and calculate the good height for draft picks, like if they're 160 they should be Guards. If they don't have quality for those positions let them go. And so, and so.

I know right i am a new player i am having difficulty playing this game can someone teach me
I'm sorry to come here so late and probably you already know how players are growing. Each player has its own frequency of growth. Gap between growth is the same for all its growth period. Players are growing 15-18 years. So it is very easily to calculate approx end height for players. Tho there is small chance that player can get random cm after 18, but that is not guaranteed.
