Zadeva: What is the function of a caption?

The thread title has the crux of the question, but I suppose the real question is full of many other ones:

(1) How does selecting a captain influence the player selected? the players not selected?

(2) Is it more important to have a captain with high-OR or high-MR?

(3) If naming a captain is merely cosmetic, what is the effect of not choosing a captain?

Not sure if answers exist, but hopefully it'll spur some comments. Personally, I don't see too much of an influence of the captain on the game.

"In the captain setup page you can select a captain and two alternates. Captain of the team increases the morale of the team and the other players then play better. This is applies especially to his linemates. An alternate captain carries out the role of the captain, if the captain cannot start in the game."

I usually just make the player with the most experience on my first line captain.
