A 7-2 win over France today puts us into the final eight playoff round. Tomorrow we play against Portugal who beat us earlier 2-0.
CORRECTION: We have not played Portugal in the U18 this season!! That was in the Senior division.
Thanks! WE have put in a lot of work over the last three seasons to build this team, and done a TON of research on our opponents!!
Our 4-3 win over Portugal today puts us into the semifinals where we will play France again. A win tomorrow would put us into the gold /silver medal game!!
It is a close race for the under 18 national team manager for next years elections. Bobby Jay and I have managed the team the last few years and we are always close. This year the under 18 Canadian team is in the final 4 hopefully playing for a medal. Please go to the elections page and give us your vote for next years team.
A 5-2 loss to #3 ranked France today, coupled with a #2 ranked Hungary win (3-2) over the #4 ranked Czechoslovakia Republic team, means we will play the Czechs tomorrow for the bronze medal.
Down 4-1 after the second period, we changed goalies hoping the fresh back-up might change our luck. We were outscored 5-1 in the final period. Final 9-2 for the Czechs. Just too much power from the Czechs! Nonetheless, a very good showing by our Canadian squad as we will finish fourth this season compared to 14th last season. We should move up in the world rankings. This should move us up into the top ten, possibly as high as #8 !!! Thank you for your training efforts and your support.
Good job. A top 4 finish is always impressive. We are not a top 4 country by most metrics, so an impressive showing!

A 5-3 loss to Portugal today is going to make it tough to get into the playoff round! Especially since we face France tomorrow. I am very concerned that this season our goaltending is more than a little suspect!! Today we had more shots, more faceoffs, and the right tactics every period, and slightly more time of possession. Save percentages well under .900 just won't cut it at this level!
André Earle was never meant to be an NT candidate. He was sort of an experiment (which I decided not to carry out) and went on to a Div III team when I sold him.
Nathan Boudreau may be one you want to look at for the U20 next season(s). He's got almost as much exp and his OR has now passed Earle and he's pretty close to Hirst, too.
