So I was the runner up in my league and thus played in the "Relegation and Promotion" games with a team from a higher league.
That team, however, was much better than me and I got beat in both the home and away games. I looked through the guide and couldn't find a definitive answer as to what happens to me now?
Anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.

Don't be surprised if you get moved anyways. I was moved by the association last year after doing the samething in the same league last year.
Count the number of teams in tier II that have a cross next to their name or have already been repalced by noname teams. Exclude any teams that due to relegation and promotion will not be in tier II. Make sure to account for any that are relegated or promoted into tier II as well. Assume there are a natural number n of these teams. The teams with the top n OTR in tier III, including teams being relegated into tier III, should be moved into tier II.
This is how I figured out that my hockey team would be promoted last season; it should be the same for soccer.

Thanks for the advice. Yeah, I would say part of me doesn't want to get promoted. I'd rather stack cash and better players for another season and then get promoted in order to actually be able to compete. But whatever, guess if I get promoted I'll just have to step my game up.
Yea I felt the same way, but oh well. I finished dead last 2-37-3, outscored 141-12. I only got 2goals twice, once was a tie while the other was a shutout win.
financially, i think you would be better off getting promoted, even if you go straight back down the following year... just a guess though
Why would that be? Not that I'm arguing, because I don't know, but if I lost a lot of games I wouldn't get any bonuses for my ranking at the end of the season, and my players wouldn't produce as many goals so I wouldn't get any bonuses for player performance. Ball park, I might be losing out on 10 million that I would get if I had stayed in a lower league and dominated. And I would lose out on considerable money gained through attendance (who wants to go to a game when a team sucks). Thoughts?
From the Guid:
[- Attendance
The following factors influence the attendance:
Stadium capacity
Level of stands
Stand accessories (mainly refreshments)
Level of scoreboard
Pitch quality
Level of floodlights
Number of parking spots
*Position of your team in the league standings
Position of the opponent in the league standings
*League level
*Overall team rating
Popularity of your and opponent's players
Derby (match between teams from the same region)
- The amount of money you get from the general sponsor is influenced mainly by: the final ranking in the recently ended season, the *overall team rating and the level of the human resources and economic department.
-The amount of money you get from the media sponsor is influenced mainly by: the final rank in the recently ended season, the *overall team rating, the level of the human resources and economic department and the capacity of the stadium. Warning! The offers from media sponsors are based on the current capacity of the stadium. The sectors under construction are not taken into account.]
-Note that overall team rating is not decreased by as much between seasons if you have by any means been promoted.
I suppose that including bonuses for player performance, there is a lot to weigh against the uncertain weight of league level. Even so, if you plan well and spend money wisely, you should still earn an increasing amount of money. There does seem to be competing (but also somewhat correlated) incentives for profit maximization (to win later) and winning now.
Also note that it is possible to be competitive with any team within 10 total rating points if you use good strategy.

With that said, there's a lot that can be done to control attendance; it's fairly easy to sell out your games unless your stadium is significantly too large. When I bought a player that happened to be a worldwide star, that alone increased my attendance by around 2,000 (or $100,000) per home game.
player bonuses are pretty minimal compared to attendance income, promotion bonus, or league position year end bonus so i wasn't factoring those in really.... sure it adds up i supoose, and any income is good income. I was just speaking from my experience. A higher league draws more money even if it is only for a year and means you don't get player bonuses
I had a rough year in Div 1 and finished 16th, yet I still sold out 90% of my home matches with a stadium capacity of 21600. I think you would need a very large stadium to see an attendance impact in Div 1.
Looks like I'm sticking in the same league III.3. So looks like maybe a league trophy in my future. Looks like a building year.....looking forward to it.
At least in the USA league, there are lots of teams with no manager on division 2 and several noname teams on division 3. I think it would be more interesting if the top 2 teams automatically promote and 3rd and 4th fight for promotion. its boring playing against dead teams. If i dont get promoted this season i will probably quit the game.
What they should do is a clean up at the end of the season. They think of the purpose of promotion as advancement, but in a game like PPM it also serves as a way to relegate the dead wood out of the way.
After the playoffs and regular promotion is completed, they should take a pair of divisions at a time, and for each league in the upper division, see if they are any dead/no name teams. If there are, they should relegate them.
The team that would replace them would be:
(1) Live teams that were in the upper division
and relegated, based on their final playoff position. In effect, they would bounce.
(2) Live 2nd place teams that lost the qualifier to promote. There can be 4 such teams, so they would be selected based on OTR.
(3) Live 3rd, etc. teams based on OTR.
For most countries it would better to switch to a 1:2 pyramid. This would permit 1st and 2nd place teams to promote, and 3rd and 4th to play qualifiers like you suggested, while still leaving the same opportunity to avoid relegation.
Teams would start lower, but it would be easier to advance.
And then they should only create higher division leagues as necessary. If there were 12 D.V leagues, then there would only be 6 D.Iv leagues.
