I think when one starts "late" its is crucial to build the team to make money.
sports Academy wont make you make money. not in your 4 seasons or so. buying players in the market might be much cheaper then building them.
with that said, Id focus on HR and building triples. Dont waste or money on type other than Large stand-up and triple.
Id slowly build up the Training Facilities and regen for when you start buying players that can be trained. But Id focus on HR and Arena for the first 2 seasons and some very cheap high OR low quality players in the market to get u to earn some games and OTR. OTR also means money!
and dont forget to try to schedule friendlies against people with very high Arena. that means great money.
One more thing: dont ever be tempted to buy any staff in your first 2 seasons. they are VERY expensive and will give you very little benefit

The HR department is extremely important for getting better sponsors (and it is probably a stronger investment earlier on), but scouting generally isn't worth much of an investment, especially once you have all of your own players scouted (which can definitely take a while at first). I spend at least $20 million extra per season on scouts in hockey (mostly to scout for the national team).
Definitely spend money on the HR department, but don't spend money on managers with high scouting (marketing though is important for getting better sponsors). In general, don't spend significant money on staff before you have level 10+ facilities.

You know, that sounds eerily familiar
Great advice b4e!

One slight addendum to bulls4ever arena advice - the very first thing you should spend money on is upgrading all of your small stand-ups to 100 seats. It's incredibly cheap, only takes 1 day, and will double your capacity, thus paying for itself quickly.
After that you can focus on large stand-ups and then triple floor multi-purposes several seasons down the road. Some people like to build stand sizes other than those two, but I've never been a fan of them.

How common is this when pulling SA players? "There are no new players on trial this week."
Well your SA academy is really low so that's why. Once you level it up, it never happens
This has me puzzled. i dont have a great handball team by any means, yet. BUT, i see this every game and ive no idea what the cause is.
Opposing team scores, and immediately my team turns it over, time and time again. i could be down by 1 and within a minute im down by 5. Is it poor goalie passing? crappy players that cant catch a pass? its frustrating. ive no idea what to train to counter this. other than dumping the entire team.

Yeah this was one of the most confusing sports for me has a beginner. I did not get the tactics at all. I still do not get the tactics to a certain exempt am confused about it...But I'm still first...
its not the tactics that is confusing. its determining what exactly is happening during turnovers, as ppm doesnt provide some information that allows you to determine exactly what a particular issue is.
Oh sorry I'm not that advanced. Is handball like rugby on this game? Also when are they going to make some nfl football. Attributes in tackling throwing ect... I would love that sport.
NFL is not even on the planning list. The next game in line is F1 with over 100k people on the waiting list. Than Tennis with 60k. But it's gonna take them like 5 years to launch F1. I wan't to play individual sport and i love F1 and Tennis in real life.
