Last season I played with "I have nothing to lose, all to gain" so I played hard and tried to understand the game. you know .. D3 is not good to learn anything.

This season, although I had planned to run with the yongsters and let lose, I am a bit more patient. I sold a couple of veterans and will sell a couple more soon.

Not sure if I will make the playoffs because I will cut more veterans, but I am very happy the way the team started the season.

another thing is that my team had no chemsitry last season. I am still building it up but much closer to full chemistry.

One of the strategies I used when I was in II.3 and had no illusions about being ready (or able) to promote was to burn lots of energy during the regular season, so I could make the playoffs and be guaranteed to finish no lower than 8th.

It's not a good way to promote up to I.1 if your team is ready to go, but before then, you can ensure a decent finishing placement and have no worries about relegation.

well that is sort of what i did last season but then i figured it would be tough and then i decided to rest and win the first relegation playoff match up and then avoid it

This season i am burning a bit less so maybe my team has gas to run till the end.

I just need to run the vets for 2 or 3 seasons allowing me time to build the facilities.

Its not just that, it is the OTR and sponsor bonus that are better by playing this strategy ...

Didn't really help as much as your PP goals though. I clearly don't have the grasp of the special teams' counter-tactics yet.

It was just hyperbole (which I admit doesn't translate well in text). He had played almost exclusively defensive tactics so far this season, hence I set my team to play the counter-tactic to that and he then ended up playing the counter to my counter.
