Yeah... likewise in II.1. Even I.1 has 2 dead teams. The field of competition has definitely thinned out substantially in recent seasons.

I did not expect someone else to be tanking in the semis...

Some teams that aren't close to being able to compete in the top division (which would severely hurt their OTR and future sponsors) choose to stick around in division II and build a better OTR until they're ready to compete in the top division. That's what the Doppelgangers did.

I've been doing that in basketball for the last few seasons (I'm finally trying to promote again this season) by playing on very hard all season so I'm too tired to compete in the playoffs. If you tank by putting forward a much weaker team though, it your sponsors can penalize you, so you have to be careful how you do it.

That's exactly what I was trying to do, but Brooklyn Hornets put forth a far weaker team than they normally do. I can't tell which would be worse: going back to get pulverized in Division I--where I may literally not win a game--or get a sponsor penalty for playing a bad lineup in the semis here or in a promotion match!

Actually, I take my concern back. I just examined the three teams I might play in a promotion match, and there will be no need to tank if they play at their team strength lol.

It wasn't deliberate (: I wanted to win at least one game. I've been struggling with money. In handball I am making money now but I have no facilities and weak players in some positions or only 1 player. And of course my main goalie gets a 14 day injury when the playoffs start ): We'll see what the money will be after the sponsors bashing at me...
